Sudha Murthy Is So Humble is a phrasal template meme used to parody news headlines about Indian tech billionaire, and U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's mother-in-law Sudha Murthy. After Murthy received press coverage about being mistaken for a poor "cattle class" person, various internet users began making jokes about Murthy being a simple, humble and down-to-earth person.
Origin
Sudha Murthy is an Indian philanthropist, educator and the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation. She is married to the co-founder of Infosys and is the mother of fashion designer Akshata Murthy, the wife of U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
In early May 2023, a video clip of Murthy saying she doesn't "worry about those things" when asked about communal politics in Karnataka began making the rounds on Twitter.[1][2] In consecutive days, various news outlets began sharing stories about Sudha Murthy being mistaken for poor or being similarly marginalized.
On May 10th, 2023, the Twitter[3] account @htTweets posted a story about Sudha Murthy recounting her experience of being told to go to economy class on a plane (seen below, left). On May 15th, Twitter[4] account @ndtvfeed posted a story about an immigration officer in the U.K. not believing that her address was the same as the U.K. Prime Minister (seen below, right).
Various Twitter users noted the sudden influx of such news about the billionaire,[5][6] with the earliest known joke about Sudha Murthy being humble being posted by Twitter[7] user @i_am_biriyani on May 17th, 2023 (seen below).

On May 17th, 2023, Twitter[8] user @Jonjo_Siins posted a joke about Sudha Murthy, gathering over 900 likes. The caption on the image translates to "I am poor" (seen below, left). On May 17th, Twitter[9] account @yehlog posted a joke about Murthy and was quote tweeted by @PratPanc,[10] gathering over 1,000 likes in roughly 24 hours (seen below, right).
On May 17th, Twitter[11] user @Joydas then posted a joke about Sudha Murthy being mistaken for poor, gathering over 4,000 likes in a day (seen below, left).
