Thai Disney Jingle refers to a clip from a Thai Disney short which shows Mickey and Minnie Mouse as salespeople vying for the perfect spot to sell their goods at a Thai market. During the short, Chip and Dale enter the scene, singing a jingle to sell their stash of nuts. The song became a meme in Thailand, inspiring the creation of covers and parodies.

Origin

On June 22nd, 2019, the Mickey Mouse YouTube channel uploaded the short "Our Floating Dreams," a Thai short where Mickey and Minnie are salespeople attempting to get the best position at a Thai market. In the short, Chip and Dale appear and sing a jingle to sell their goods (shown below). The jingle was composed by Twitter user Quintessence.[1] The clip has been viewed over 6.6 million times.


Spread

The day after the video was posted, the Chip & Dale clip was tweeted by user @cabel (shown below).



A week after the video was posted, it began seeing parody in Thailand. YouTube user W OFFICIAL posted an R&B remix of the song, gaining over 1 million views (shown below, left). User BNK48Lyrics posted a 10-hour loop of the track, gaining over 2.2 million views (shown below, right).


On Twitter, popular videos about the meme include a piano cover by @palmpawee that gained over 4,900 retweets and 3,800 likes (shown below, top) and a death metal cover posted by @th4nathip that gained over 2,000 retweets and 950 likes (shown below, bottom). The song became so popular in Thailand that the state mental health department posted a notice offering citizens tips on how to get a song out of your head.[2]
