The Cake Is Almost Ready refers to a redraw meme inspired by a sketch of a person bending over to peer into an oven. The template grew popular in November of 2024 on Twitter / X as a way to joke about characters with large butts and pop culture ships.
Origin
On November 10th, 2024, Twitter / X[1] user @yesman_fxmk uploaded a drawing of a man who bends over to check if a cake is baked, saying "it's almost ready." The other person in the sketch says "I can tell," referring to the first man's big butt. The post received over 26,000 likes in one week.
Spread
The drawing quickly grew popular among artists on Twitter / X as a template for drawing characters in the same scenario, mostly ships. For example, on November 12th, 2024, Twitter / X[2] user @peeyousch uploaded fan art of Robin and Franky from One Piece. The post received more than 20,000 likes in four days (shown below).
The next day, Twitter / X[3] user @SoyDeans uploaded fan art of Chi-Chi and Goku from Dragon Ball using @yesman_fxmk's drawing as a reference. The post received more than 48,000 likes in three days (shown below).
