The Croods Running, also known as the Croods Chase Scene or The Croods Getting Breakfast, refers to a scene in the 2013 animated film The Croods showing the caveman family running at the viewer, because they're getting their breakfast, set to the movie's main theme. The Croods Running meme spread on TikTok in mid-2025, following a viral video about working out with The Croods theme song to maximize cardiovascular exercise. The TikTok created a viral sound, which was used by many in the following weeks, mostly for jokes about running to an event or towards a goal. The meme spread during a rise in The Croods content in 2025, including the Rhymes With Grug trend, which centered on the character Grug.

On March 22nd, 2013, the animated film The Croods was released in American theaters.^[2] One of the opening scenes showed the family running towards the camera, set to the film's main theme (YouTube^[1] upload shown below).

Currently, the first known meme to use the scene was shared by YouTuber^[3] Foekoe Gaming on July 26th, 2020, who added top and bottom Impact captions to the scene, reading, "Oh god, we're late for The Croods, premiering March 22nd, 2013." Over five years, the video received roughly 420,700 views and 29,000 likes (shown below).

The Croods Running became a major meme trend in 2025, following a video posted by TikToker^[4] @riverrtidee on April 25th. The post showed her running on a treadmill, set to the main theme of the film, with a caption reading, "Sometimes when I'm working out, I play the song when the Croods were getting breakfast and pretend I'm running with them." Over 11 days, the video gained over 1.9 million likes (shown below).

In the following days, many creators used the TikTok sound^[5] from the abovementioned video. For instance, on April 27th, 2025, TikToker^[6] @two_turn_nando posted a scene from Transformers with the caption, "'Why are you running so fast?' / What I'm listening to." The video gained over 33,800 likes in nine days (shown below).

On April 29th, TikToker^[7] @official.goose_ posted a video of her and her friends running, captioned, "When coach makes us run poles so we pretend to be the Croods chasing their breakfast," gaining over 811,400 likes in a week (shown below).

The trend circled back to YouTube in early May 2025. For instance, on May 2nd, YouTuber^[8] @RetroTheCreator posted a video, captioned, "How it feels racing your siblings home after school to see who gets to play on the console first," gaining over 2,200 views in four days (shown below).
