About

The Innocence Test is a personality quiz popularized on TikTok in 2021 and 2022 in which the testee checks off boxes to discover how innocent they are. It's said to be a modern variation on the Rice Purity Test, which was created in the 1920s. Additionally, Put A Finger Down tests also emerged with the same theme.

Origin

On December 27th, 2020, TikTokers[1] 50shades_of_grace and ellemn0 posted a video in which they announced the launch of a personality quiz that they created called "The Innocence Test," which was a variation of the older Rice Purity Test[2] but with modern, Gen Z and Millennial signifiers. Over the course of two years, the video received roughly 6.9 million plays and 1.6 million likes (shown below). On December 29th, 2020, "The Innocence Test" website[3] was launched.

After 50shades_of_grace and ellemn0's TikTok went viral in late 2020, other TikTokers posted videos in which they green-screened in front of their results. On December 29th, 2020, TikToker[4] jichichichi was the first to do so, earning roughly 38,400 plays and 3,300 likes in two years (shown below, left).
