The Vicious Cycle is a series of animated films created with Garry's Mod that feature characters from the online first-person shooter game Team Fortress 2, typically accompanied by the song “Bãtutã Din Moldova” from the 2009 adventure game Rabbids Go Home.

Origin

On February 18th, 2011, YouTuber Raikujo uploaded a Garry's Mod animation titled "The Vicious Cycle of 2fort," featuring a frantic Team Fortress 2 battle on the "2fort" map with the song "Bãtutã Din Moldova" playing in the background (shown below). Within four years, the video gained over 2.6 million views and 9,500 comments.



Spread

On February 20th, 2011, YouTuber MrXarlable uploaded a video titled "The Vicious Cycle of Gold Rush," featuring a Team Fortress 2 battle on the "Gold Rush" map (shown below, left). On June 26th, YouTuber Евгений Рыков uploaded a video titled "The Vicious Cycle of Minecraft," featuring rapid Minecraft gameplay footage (shown below, right). In four years, the videos accumulated more than 550,000 and 226,000 views respectively.



On November 4th, YouTuber Courroux29 uploaded a Team Fortress 2 animation titled "The Vicious Cycle of F2P" (shown below, left). On February 23rd, 2012, YouTube Michaeldragon800 uploaded a montage of notable "Vicious Cycle" animations (shown below, right).



On August 17th, 2014, YouTuber DasBo Schitt uploaded a video titled "The Vicious Cycle of Playing Engineer," featuring a Team Fortress 2 battle from the perspective of the Engineer character (shown below, left). On October 14th, YouTuber AppleJoosh and RieBeard uploaded a Garry's Mod animation featuring characters from the indie horror game Five Nights at Freddy's, which gained over 2.3 million views and 4,300 comments within three months (shown below, right).
