About

This Shocking Video Might Be Disturbing To Progressive Westerners refers to a copypasta that started in a parody of right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec posting a video of a traditional European ballroom dance, saying the contents might "shock" progressive Westerners. After similar videos were posted on Twitter / X, users began parodying the tweets by pairing the words with humorous images.

Origin

On January 9th, 2024, Jack Posobiec[1] tweeted a video of a 2018 ballroom dance in Belarus, sarcastically saying, "The shocking images now emerging out of Belarus are disturbing and unsettling to we in the progressive West. I advise absolute viewer discretion." The tweet gained over 5,400 retweets and 29,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).

Posobiec's tweet appeared to inspire conservative user ImMeme0[2] to post a similar video on January 20th, using a similar video of a dance they said came from a prom in Poland. The tweet gained over 8,200 retweets and 41,000 likes in three days (shown below).

Spread

The post by ImMeme0 became more widely parodied as users copied the text, sometimes with slight tweaks, and paired it with humorous images and videos, though the parodies have not spread widely as of January 23rd, 2024. For example, on January 21st, Twitter user ulkacebulka02[3] posted the copypasta with a picture of furries in a classroom, gaining six likes in two days (shown below, left). The same day, user @dantespeakoil[4] posted a parody featuring a scene from Stardew Valley,, though it also didn't see much spread (shown below, right).

It's telling a lot of these "redpill" mfs are constantly pining for days when it was viewed as socially acceptable to verbally and sometimes even physically abuse anyone who wasn't "white" (translation of my use of quotation marks: "anyone who doesn't have Anglo or Germanic ancestry, because they were also super racist to the Irish and Italians").
