This X Shit Get Serious, Be Ready to Die Behind It is a catchphrase and phrasal template that began with a photo of rapper NBA Youngboy tweeted alongside the phrase "This Discord Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It." The meme is used to signify the ride-or-die attitude people have towards different things, including video games and social media websites. After 2021, the catchphrase came to be used in memes with the word Discord switched out for other words, as well as the image. A notable variation of the meme uses the phrasing, "Be prepared to die behind it."
Origin
On June 15th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @here4themoneyy posted a tweet that read, "This Discord Shit Get Serious, Be Ready To Die Behind It." The post gathered just eight likes and four bookmarks in two years (seen below).
The tweet is part of a larger meme trend in which photos of NBA Youngboy are placed alongside joke tweets about Discord users being tough and dangerous. Twitter[2] user @d9lta posted a collection of NBA Youngboy Discord memes on December 24th, 2021, gathering over 1,000 likes in two years (seen below).

On October 14th, 2022, Redditor[4] /u/I_Follow_Shark_Ladys posted a meme using the phrasal template as a caption to /r/Shark_Park, gathering over 300 upvotes in a year (seen below, right).
On January 15th, 2023, Twitter[5] user @DRACULAURlTA posted a tweet that read, "This hello kitty shit gets serious. Be ready to die behind it," gathering over 22,000 likes in six months (seen below, left). On May 23rd, 2023, the Instagram[6] page @almostacow posted a meme that read, "this pokémon shit get serious be prepared to die behind it," gathering over 2,000 likes in a month (seen below, right).
