Her actions in the video were likened to the slang term and nickname Karen, leading to many online calling her "Train Karen." As stated, the so-called Train Karen was later identified as Pinnix by the tabloid The Daily Mail, resulting in Pinnix purportedly being fired from her job. The Train Karen video trended across social media sites like Twitter / X and Reddit in October 2023.

Currently, the first-known upload of the Train Karen video was on October 3rd, 2023, to the /r/PublicFreakout^[1] subreddit from Redditor Mahomestyle. The video received roughly 15,700 upvotes in three days (shown below).

Spread

Soon after it was shared on Reddit, the video spread to X when X^[2] user @Tr00peRR reposted it on October 4th, 2023, gaining quotes from other users.^[3] The video became increasingly viral on October 5th, earning a repost from X^[4] user Ian Miles Cheong which received over 6.4 million views and 15,000 likes in a day (screenshot shown below).

Viral reposts on TikTok^[5] also surfaced on October 4th. All of the virality and discourse led to The Daily Mail^[6] publishing an article on October 4th which identified the woman as 30-year-old Brianna Pinnix, claiming that she had been fired from her job at Capital Rx because of her actions in the viral video.

In turn, many users on social media reacted to the news and amplified it, including TikToker^[7] @dingnewscorp on October 5th, 2023, who uploaded an explainer video with information from The Daily Mail's piece, gaining roughly 4.5 million views and 464,500 likes in a day (shown below).
