About

Karen Puppy Thrower refers to a controversial viral video featuring a woman throwing a small puppy at a man in the street during an altercation. The video first appeared online in mid-October 2020 on Twitter after the man who recorded the clip, a rapper named Glo Mula, shared it on social media. The dog, whose name is Movie, was adopted by Glo Mula following the incident.

Origin

The original video of the altercation between the man and woman was uploaded by Twitter[1] user Mulaflare on October 9th, 2020, under the caption “Idk what’s goin on but I got a new dog” (shown below). In the clip, Mulaflare, whose been identified as the rapper Glo Mula, is seen on the street being followed by a woman with a puppy in her arm as he asks her who the dog belonged to. The woman's condition in the capture is unknown, but she can be heard uttering incoherent statements, such as a mention of Illuminati. She begins verbally assaulting him and as the racist tirade boils over, the woman then throws the puppy at him where it lands on the street and flees to Glo Mula for protection. He then picks up the dog and says, “Whoa, back up, this is not your fucking dog, I got video of everything,” as she attempts to hit him. The video received over 23.6 million views, 149,300 likes, 35,000 retweets and 20,600 quotes in four days.

Spread

After initially being shared on Twitter, the viral video trended online and spread to other social media platforms shortly after. Mulaflare also shared the incident to his Instagram[2] account on October 9th, 2020, receiving over 2.7 million views in four days (seen below). On Reddit, the clip was shared to the /r/NoahGetTheBoat[3] subreddit on October 10th, receiving over 45,600 upvotes, 5,800 comments and numerous Reddit awards in three days. That same day, the video was also shared to the /r/ActualPublicFreakouts[4] sub, receiving over 11,100 upvotes and 1,500 comments.
