Venus Slime Fields refers to a series of parody memes imagining the struggles of working at slime fields on Venus. The memes parody social media posts by right-wing influencers that glamorize and praise blue-collar work, especially the frequently shared Muddy Workers Operating Machinery video. The meme is closely related to the Zeep Glorp trend, from which it borrows "alien" lingo.

Origin

On January 26th, 2024, X[1] / Twitter user @Sillysalesmanyo posted a color-corrected version of the Muddy Workers Operating Machinery video, frequently shared by influencers on the platform, captioning it with a joke about harsh conditions workers experience at "Venus slime fields," which parodied such posts. The post (shown below) garnered over 8.3 million views, 11,000 reposts and 107,000 likes in three days.


Spread

Starting on January 27th, 2024, other users on X / Twitter joined in on the joke, building upon the meme. For example, on that day, X[2] user @Newsiegang replied to the original meme with a color-corrected version of the Boomer Reply Squad reaction image, captioning it, "I'd like to see today's generation do this." The post (shown below) received over 110 reposts and 4,700 likes in two days.

Later on January 27th, X[3] user @blephin_ posted an edit of the recently viral video of Coca-Cola being served "the old-fashioned way" at a New York diner, captioning it, "97-eons-old slime diner still serves their glorp the old fashioned way." The post (shown below) garnered over 3.7 million views, 4,500 reposts and 51,000 likes in two days.
