About
Wallahi I'm Finished is a reaction catchphrase used to signify that one is feeling they are about to lose or fail with no chance of overcoming their predicament. "Wallahi" is an Arabic term that translates to "I swear by Allah." The catchphrase stems from a Snapchat post by streamer yeaiamtrill shared in 2022, which has also been used as a reaction image.
Origin
Prior to April 6th, 2022, streamer yeaiamtrill posted a photograph of himself grabbing his head captioned, "wallahi I'm finished." "Wallahi" is an Arabic term that means "I swear by Allah" or "I swear by God" (shown below).
On April 6th, 2022, X[1] user @gutsdachad made the earliest discovered use of the image as a reaction, posting it to react to an argument about Attack on Titan. The post gained over 130 likes in two years (shown below).
Spread
"Wallahi I'm finished" saw more use, both independently as a catchphrase and as a part of the reaction image, throughout 2022. For example, on May 6th, 2022, X[2] user @ScorpX_13 used it in a post that received over 270 reposts and 2,200 likes in two years (shown below, left).
Starting in 2023, macros in which the catchphrase was combined with images of people and characters demonstrating resignation were shared online, mainly on Tenor for further use on Discord. For example, on March 2nd, 2023, Tenor[3] user Aoe101 made a Staring Donkey reaction image (shown below, left).
In late September 2023, following the release of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, a Wallahi I'm Finished meme based on the panel of Satoru Gojo lying dead saw viral spread (shown below, right).
