With This Treasure I Summon… or With This Treasure I Summon Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga is a catchphrase used by Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen to summon the most powerful shikigami, Divine General Mahoraga. The phrase became the subject of memes throughout the 2020s, including on TikTok throughout 2023, where Megumi is portrayed as using the technique at any minor inconvenience, similar to the hollow purple memes that were popularized that same year.

Origin

Mahoraga is first summoned by Megumi in an attempt to exorcise him in chapter 117 of Jujutsu Kaisen, released on August 11th, 2020, in which he summons him with a specific hand sign and the incantation, "With this treasure I summon Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga."^[1] Mahoraga later appears in chapters 212 (shown below) and 229, released on February 6th, 2023 and July 17th, 2023 respectively.^[2]^[3] He first appeared in the anime in season two episode 17, which aired on November 16th, 2023.

Memes referencing Megumi's use of the phrase "with this treasure I summon" became increasingly popular online throughout the 2020s. For example, on November 18th, 2020, u/sieghxrts posted a meme to /r/JuJutsuKaisen^[4] about Megumi using the summon every time he's about to lose, garnering over 200 upvotes in three years. On August 1st, TikToker^[5] @pinoypins posted a video making a similar joke where he portrays Megumi using the technique after minor inconveniences happen, garnering over 364,000 views in three months (shown below).

Memes about Megumi summoning Mahoraga became increasingly popular on TikTok throughout late 2023. On October 1st, 2023, TikToker^[6] @majin.mentality08 posted a meme that was reposted to /r/Jujutsufolk^[7] under the title "WITH THIS TREASURE…" that garnered over 80,000 views on the former and 2,000 upvotes on the latter in a month. On October 13th, TikToker^[8] @syrupthegoat posted a meme that gained over 3 million views in a month (shown below, left). On October 17th, TikToker^[9] @whenicatchyougege0 posted a meme that gained over 90,000 views in a month (shown below, right).
