Gojo Backshots, also known as Gojo Giving Backshots, refers to a series of videos on TikTok of an edited video of the character Satoru Gojo from the manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen performing a thrusting motion, used to simulate "doggystyle" or "Giving Backshots" towards various anime characters while the song "Ricch Forever" by Roddy Ricch plays. These videos are usually captioned with phrases such as, "This yo mc?", as the meme makes fun of fans of the character.

Origin

The original scene appeared in episode 28 of anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, which premiered in Japan on July 27, 2023.^[1] The earliest known example of the meme was on August 1st, 2023, where TikToker^[2] @.gokuism posted a video of Gojo "giving backshots" to the character Ichigo Kurasaki from the anime and manga Bleach, gaining roughly 159.90k plays and 30.9k likes in two months (shown below).

Spread

Not long after the first video was posted, many users began uploading their own versions of the meme. On August 2nd, 2023, TikToker^[3] @vassinss posted a video where Gojo is "giving backshots" to the character Monkey D. Luffy from the anime and manga One Piece, Naruto Uzamaki from the anime and manga Naruto, and Ichigo Kurasaki from the anime and manga Bleach, gaining roughly 733.3k plays and 111.4k likes in 2 months (shown below, left). On August 3rd, 2023, TikToker ^[4] @greyblade69 posted a video of Gojo "giving backshots" to the character Son Goku from the anime and manga Dragon Ball, gaining roughly 1.8 million plays and 218.5k likes in the same time frame (shown below, right).

On August 4th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @k4tsim uploaded a version of the meme that which gained 2.1 million views and 335.7k likes (shown below).
