The Strongest Sorcerer In History Vs. The Strongest Sorcerer Of Today refers to an exploitable panel from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga before the battle of Satoru Gojo and Sukuna. The panel of the manga is usually edited into a snowclone with parody edits using the phrasal template The X in history vs. The X of today.
Origin
On May 22nd, 2023, chapter 223 of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled "Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 1," was released in Japan[1]. In the chapter, as a part of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, there's a page showing Satoru Gojo and Sukuna before they start fighting (shown below).
Spread
On May 22nd, 2023, Instagram[2] user @_jakipop_ uploaded a colored version of the panel (shown below, left). Twitter / X[3] user @diogroao did the same on February 21st, 2024 (shown below, center), and Facebook[4] page 𝐘𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐤𝐚ア did the same on July 31st, 2023, which received more than 31,000 reactions and 2,300 shares in ten months (shown below, right).
The panel also became a popular source of redraws. For example, on January 10th, 2024, Twitter / X[5] user @sonic1nstinct uploaded a piece of Yu-Gi-Oh! fan art based on the panel. The post received more than 5,200 reposts and 34,000 likes in five months (shown below, left). On January 28th, 2024, Twitter / X[6] user @NODOWDY uploaded a piece about female rappers that received more than 2,100 reposts and 14,000 likes in five months (shown below, right).
