"You Disingenuous Dense Motherfucker" is a memorable insult spoken by YouTuber DarkViperAU to YouTuber The Quartering in a video responding to criticism from him. The clip of DarkViperAU saying the phrase received significant attention online and became the subject of numerous remixes and edits in late 2020 and early 2021. The phrase is an extension of the insult You Dense Motherfucker, which first became popular online in 2009.

Origin

On July 19th, 2020, YouTuber^[1] DarkViperAU released a video in which he talks about a number of topics while speedrunning games. At the 29:17 mark, he begins to criticize and insult controversial YouTuber The Quartering, particularly for "making people dumber" through his content and talking about things he knows nothing about (shown below, left). On August 11th, The Quartering responded while streaming on Twitch insulting DarkViperAU, back. The clip was uploaded by YouTuber^[2] Virusanity on August 14th (shown below, right).

On August 14th, 2020, YouTuber^[3] DarkViperAU posted a video titled, "THE FUNNIEST SHOUT OUT EVER! – THE QUARTERING IS GARBAGE," in which he responds to The Quartering's response in a continuing argumentative way. At the 6:45 mark, The Quartering brings up his Master's degree to combat DarkViperAU's claim that he "knows nothing about anything." DarkViperAU responds to The Quartering, saying, "You disingenuous, dense motherfucker. Obviously you have to know something about something or you couldn't tie your shoes" (shown below).

On September 25th, YouTuber^[4][5] MattScreamStuff uploaded two new remixes of the clip, each making it seem as if DarkViperAU is saying other phrases, garnering over 18,000 and 57,000 views in six months respectively (shown below, left and right).

On the same date, Redditor u/CreeperTh3Gamer posted the latter video to /r/DarkViperAU^[6] titled, "YOU DISINGENUOUS DENSE SHOEFUCKER OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT SOMETHING OR YOU COULDNT FUCK YOUR SHOES," garnering over 1,500 upvotes and 10 Reddit awards in the same span of time.

The clip gained considerable popularity on YouTube and the /r/DarkViperAU subreddit where new edits of the video, as well as image macros and posts referencing the clip, often gained considerable attention.

On November 20th, YouTuber^[7] Red uploaded a version of the clip dubbed in Russian, garnering over 29,700 views in four months (shown below).

On December 1st, Redditor u/ChemicalAcid posted an image to /r/DarkViperAU^[8] of a LEGO version of DarkViperAU under the post title, "YOU DISINGENUOUS DENSE MOTHER F____ER!," garnering over 1,300 upvotes in three months (shown below).

On January 22nd, 2021, YouTuber^[9] [アンドレ]kALLiL uploaded a version of the clip animated in Joel Haver's style, garnering over 161,000 views in under two months (shown below, left). The video was posted to /r/DarkViperAU^[10] by u/felpscaslop on the same date, garnering over 1,500 upvotes in the same span of time. On February 9th, YouTuber^[11] hikrar15 uploaded a recreation of the clip using the video game Minecraft, garnering over 26,000 views in a month (shown below, right). On February 28th, the video was shared to /r/DarkViperAU,^[12] garnering over 1,700 upvotes in a week.
