On September 23rd, 2014, comedian and actor Will Sasso uploaded the video to his Vine account,^[1] captioned, "The Digestion Song" (shown below). It reached over 103,000 likes, 6.2 million loops, and 46,000 revines by the time Vine shut down in 2016.

Since its original upload, the video has been the subject of remixes and edits. When Vine shut down, the video was reuploaded to YouTube. The most popular reupload of Sasso's Vine was uploaded on February 5th, 2019, by YouTuber Sleep's Shitposts.^[2] The video garnered over 780,000 views by September 2020.

On April 4th, 2020, YouTuber James_welch 79^[3] uploaded a remixed meme of the Vine, also including a clip from one of Will Sasso's Lemon Vines (shown below). The video garnered over 125,000 views in five months.

On April 17th, YouTuber Greystar2426^[4] uploaded a version of the Vine remixed with the song "I Get Around" by The Beach Boys (shown below). The video garnered over 1.18 million views in five months. On April 30th, Instagrammer creamy1s^[5] uploaded a video of a musician adding original instrumentation to the Vine. On May 3rd, Sasso re-uploaded Greystar's Beach Boys remix to his Instagram page.^[6] The video garnered over 135,000 views in four months.

Following this re-upload, people took a renewed interest in the video, particularly on Instagram, leading to further remixes and memes incorporating the source video.
