Your Honor refers to the webcomic "If the Tribunal Worked…" by comic artist Tim Buckley in which a plaintiff accuses the defendant of stealing his mid position in League of Legends. The comic went viral in April 2016 following in edit in which the plaintiff gets sentenced immediately after saying "League of Legends."

Origin

On April 29th, 2013, webcomic artist Tim Buckley^[1] (Ctrl+Alt+Del) posted a comic titled "If the Tribunal Worked…" (shown below). In the comic, a court plaintiff argues that the defendant should be convicted for going mid in MOBA video game League of Legends despite the plaintiff calling the role for himself. In the last panel of the comic, judge decides on the death sentence, with the last panel revealing that it was the plaintiff, not the defendant, who got sentenced.

Prior to April 20th, 2016, an unknown user posted an edited version of the comic in which most of the text was edited out with only the phrases "Your Honor," "League of Legends" and "Death" left, implying that the plaintiff deserved death for being a League Of Legends player. On April 20th, 2016, Tumblr^[2] user aintlikethatnow recreated the meme (shown below), with the post gaining over 88,400 likes and reblogs in four years.

Spread

Starting in 2019, the comic became a popular subject of parodies in the following years, with the statement made by the plaintiff usually replaced by curt, often nonsensical phrases. For example, on July 7th, 2019, Redditor^[3] CannedWolfMeat posted an edit that gained over 2,100 upvotes in six months (shown below, left). On November 10th, 2019, Redditor^[4] ImMemable posted an edit that received over 4,100 upvotes (shown below, right).

On December 31st, 2019, Instagram^[5] user hd_chungles used the meme as a part of an edit that spawned The Man Behind the Slaughter meme.

Various Examples

"Mating Press" Variants

On November 5th, 2021, the Facebook page Banned Hololive En Discord Memes posted an edit^[6] of this comic, featuring the Vtuber Hakos Baelz as the plaintiff. In her speech bubble, she awkwardly says the judge: Cheesed to meet you, and the text within the judge's speech bubble has been replaced by the words "Mating Press", as if to declare it a punishment upon her. The Mating Press sex position had been associated to Baelz for some time at this point, as a running gag within her fanbase, linked to her stretching exercizes.

On February 24th, 2022, the single panel of the judge claiming "Mating Press" was uploaded on iFunny^[7].

This version of the meme has been used online as a reaction image in a context of hornyposting, as were several redrawn variants of it (example below).
