About

Skeletrix Island, also known as Edward Skeletrix Island, refers to a series of creepy AI-generated videos and images on TikTok that use music from underground rapper and artist Edward Skeletrix (@peintures762o31). Skeletrix, and another account called Edwin Skeletrix (@edwinskeletrix), began posting AI-altered videos in 2023, labeling them Skeletrix Island. The videos most often used recognizable viral videos as the base, switching between the source video and the AI-altered version. In early 2024, both accounts deleted their content but more Skeletrix Island videos and images were uploaded to the site. Many of the videos used Edward Skeletrix's songs "Blurry Picture (Psychosis)" and "zo6 GETOUt !" ("narcissist").

Origin

As early as July 2022, TikToker[1] Edward Skeletrix (@peintures762o31) started posting content. In April 2023, Skeletrix started uploading AI-altered video content on TikTok.[2][3] As of February 23rd, 2024, all of the videos on Skeletrix's original TikTok page have been deleted, along with the account itself.

The aesthetic of "Skeletrix Island" was coined on August 29th, 2023, when Skeletrix posted a TikTok[4] that was an AI-altered video of a humanoid being popping what looked like a chewing gum bubble, gaining roughly 4.3 million plays and 206,900 likes in three months (since-deleted). The same video was posted a week prior, on August 22nd, 2023, on the Instagram[5] account of Skeletrix, gaining over 1,000 likes in six months (shown below).

Spread

Skeletrix continued the aesthetic of "Skeletrix Island" in AI video content on TikTok.[6] As stated, all of the videos and Skeletrix's account have since been deleted.

In late 2023, Skeletrix went widely dormant on TikTok and the "Skeletrix Island" aesthetic was picked up by a new TikToker named Edwin Skeletrix (@edwinskeletrix). The user started with two TikToks[7][8] posted on September 28th, 2023. One of them received roughly 362,900 plays and 37,000 likes in two months. However, just like Skeletrix, the new account @edwinskeletrix has also been deleted as of February 23rd, 2023, along with all of its videos.

Some of the since-deleted TikToks[9] from @edwinskeletrix gained millions of plays and reposts on different websites. For instance, on November 4th, 2023, Instagram[10] user @jewpacccca reposted an @edwinskeletrix video showing food reviewers in a car, gaining over 16,000 likes in three months (shown below).

In 2024, Skeletrix continued to upload images and videos on his Instagram, like a Reel [11] posted on January 18th, 2024, receiving over 22,900 likes in a month (shown below).

2024 Resurgence

On January 3rd, 2024, Skeletrix posted a new song to Soundcloud[12] called "zo6 GETOUt ! prod.prblm" that led with the word "narcissist" in the lyrics. The song received over 36,500 listens in a month (shown below).

Soon after, TikTokers started posting videos and slideshows with the TikTok sound.[13] For instance, TikToker @bear1boss33 posted multiple slideshows with the sound in January 2024, like one slideshow[14] posted on January 17th, 2024, that showed two images of Instagram[15] user @beenslackin (shown below), gaining over 30,700 likes in one month.
