According to an unfounded rumor going around Twitter, Joe Biden visited the Pope last weekend and pooped himself.
Here's how we got here: Last weekend, Biden visited Pope Francis in Rome. There was supposed to be a livestream of their meeting, but it was canceled by The Vatican. The pair met for 90 minutes, which seemed like an unusually long time. The former Nevada GOP chair Amy Tarkanian said the "rumor around Rome" was that their long meeting time was because Biden had a "bathroom accident" that had to be addressed.
The word around Rome is that Biden’s meeting with the Pope was unusually long because Biden had a bit of an “bathroom accident” at the Vatican & it had to be addressed prior to him leaving.
I know we joke often about this, but this is the actual rumor going around Rome now.— Amy Tarkanian (@MrsT106) October 30, 2021
To be clear, there is absolutely no evidence at all to support the rumor, nor has any other reporter echoed Tarkanian's claim. Even Conservative Brief, whose article on the rumor was shared gleefully by conservatives and others on Twitter, wrote, "It is important to note that there is no evidence to support the veracity of these claims nor has anyone with official knowledge of the meetings confirmed or denied the rumors."
Nevertheless, "#poopypantsbiden" trended on Twitter as users ran with the idea that the President pooped himself while with the Pope.
I can't wait for Peter Doocy to ask Jen Psaki about #PoopyPantsBiden

It seems such flash-in-the-pan rumors are par for the political course now, as each side attempts to own the other through parroting baseless (and often low-quality) memes. In fact, the "#poopypantsbiden" fiasco is remarkably similar in tenor to the rumor that Trump wore his pants backwards.
