Twitter permanently suspended conservative prankster Joey "Salads" Saladino from the platform yesterday. Salads, known for stunts that he believes expose the myths and hypocrisy of liberal ideology, violated the site's spam rules.

Salads announced his ban in a YouTube video, where he reads his letter from Twitter.

"Your account, JoeySalads has been suspended for violating the Twitter Rules," Saladino reads from an email from Twitter. "Specifically, for: violating our rules against platform manipulation and spam."

The ban comes 24 hours after receiving a complaint about a tweet in which he claims to "expose the COVID-19 hoax" and plugs his podcast "The Raging Patriot." His Twitter account, in the hours leading up to the ban, features numerous links to his podcast. It is unclear if this contributed to his suspension.

"The account was permanently suspended for repeated violations of our platform manipulation and spam policy," a Twitter spokesperson told the Daily Dot.

In the video, Salads complains that the ban would harm his "growth."

"This screws me up because I was getting almost 200 million impressions on my Twitter each month, gaining probably 50 to 60 thousand followers a month recently," he said. “And I was using all of those followers, pushing them over to this YouTube account, pushing them over to my podcast, and now guess what? I’m screwed. Because I’m not going to be able to grow anymore. I was relying on Twitter for my growth.”

"I feel like I don't even exist anymore not being on Twitter."

Saladino grew in popularity due to a series of controversial prank videos. In 2017, his video "Nazi at Trump Rally (Social Experiment) Are Trump Supporters Nazis?" features the YouTuber wearing a Nazi armband. In 2019, during a failed congressional run, a video emerged of Saladino attempting to urinate into his own mouth.

Following the news of his suspension, the hashtag #PissDrinkingNazi trended on Twitter, reaching #36 in worldwide trending hashtags that day.
