'Pokémon Sleep' Emerges From Hibernation At 'Pokémon Presents,' Proves Far More Exciting Than DLC News That Requires You To Be Awake
You may remember May 2019 when The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Sleep, an app that would somehow connect the real-life sleeping habits of "players" to the Pokémon universe, and many viewers said, "What?" Then, nearly four years went by with no news on Pokémon Sleep and those same folks were left going "no seriously, what?"
Those days are over because today's "Pokémon Presents" presentation finally announced the imminent release of Pokémon Sleep.
The app will apparently track users' sleep patterns by running on their mobile devices next to them as they sleep. Users will awake to find several Pokémon dozing next to a Snorlax that differ daily depending on the quality of their sleep. If their sleep is extra special somehow, those Pokémon may appear in rare poses.
According to those who have used a sleep app before, the app looks and appears to function similarly to other sleep apps on the market, with the added bonus of Pokémon surprises every morning. There will be some crossover functionality between Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon GO, though exactly what that will be is not yet clear.
Judging from early reactions, many people appeared stoked – or at least satisfied – to finally get some news on Pokémon Sleep.

All this excitement about sleeping threatened to overshadow the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, which will be arriving later this year.
Much like the Pokémon Sword and Shield, DLC, the upcoming DLC for Scarlet and Violet has two waves, each with its own micro-adventure and mascot Pokémon. Dubbed "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero," the DLC waves will release in the fall and winter of this year.
While players of the mainline Pokémon games are largely excited to anticipate more Scarlet and Violet content, it appears that more casual fans are more excited that they finally get to sleep with Pokémon, which has long been a dream for some in the community.
