Nintendo replied that Mario's favorite foods are mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and surprisingly, edible chrysanthemums. In a 1993 issue of Famitsu, the magazine reached out to Nintendo Japan to answer questions related to Mario for the release of Super Mario All-Stars. The "Nice Boat" incident In 2007, the anime School Days was aired in Japan. The day before the final episode, which would have featured a girl committing a violent murder, a similar murder took place in real life (16-year-old girl murdered her father with an axe in Kyoto). The episode was cancelled and stock footage was played for 30 minutes in its place, featuring a boat. The boat, alongside a comment on an imageboard calling it a "nice boat", became a meme in Japan after the incident.
