Curtain Call Challenge or Curtaincall Challenge is an often NSFW fan art trend shared under the hashtag #CurtainCallChallenge in which artists on Twitter draw characters, particularly their original characters, in increasing states of undressing. The challenge consists of drawing the character in four types of outfits, labeled "Pocket," the most modest; "Tent," usually high-waisted shorts and a tucked-in button-down shirt; "Curtain," showing the character with just a button-down shirt, and "Curtain Call," showing the character with the shirt opened, revealing their undergarments underneath.

Origin

On March 13th, 2022, Twitter user @vvarstromig^[1] posted the template for the "Curtain Call Challenge," drawing four pictures of his OC. The tweet gained over 5,500 retweets and 56,000 likes (shown below).

Spread

The challenge was a quick hit, as users quickly began adopting the #CurtainCallChallenge on Twitter in mid-March 2022. While many were explicit, some tamer examples include a March 14th post by @Mr_Tangsuyuk^[2] that gained over 40 retweets and 890 likes in four days (shown below, left) and a March 15th post by @zingzongbong^[3] that gained over 130 retweets and 1,100 likes in three days (shown below, right).

Some users created humorous variations using the template. For example, on March 14th, user @G0lden_C0rral^[4] posted an example in which he drew literal versions of a pocket, tent, etc. The post gained over 180 retweets and 1,500 likes in four days (shown below, left). User @yashureaboutthat^[5] posted an example that same day showing the same Sonic OC for every pose, gaining over 30 retweets and 400 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, right).
