Dih is an AAVE slang and algospeak term meaning "dick." The origins of the term are uncertain, however, it became notably popularized as a form of slang on TikTok in early 2025, becoming the focal point of several memes, including the Zaya Wade Taking Dih, Dih to Yo Crack and Veiny Ahh Dih memes. The term is largely used as an attempt to avoid censorship on platforms like TikTok.
Origin
The exact origins of the slang term "dih" are unclear. The phrase started to become popularized online in late December 2024 as an alternative way to say "dick."
One of the earliest known examples of the use in memes was posted by TikToker[1] 444quantum on December 23rd, 2024 as part of the "Zaya Wade taking dih" meme, with the meme reading, "dwade in 20 years visiting his son to see him taking dih in the back as soon as he walks in the crib," garnering over 697,000 views in two months.

After the "Zaya Wade Dih" meme, other memes centered around the slang term "dih" began going viral, along with one-off memes using the term either in a comedic way or as a form of algospeak.
Variations of the phrase "Veiny Ahh Dih" started going viral as early as December 2024[2] and the "Dih To Yo Crack" meme started going viral in early January 2025.[3]
The term continued to prove popular on TikTok throughout 2025. On April 18th, 2025, TikToker[4] @hoop.mcrushed posted a meme consisting of basketball footage under the caption, "How girls feel about joking about having a dih," garnering over 619,000 likes and 3.1 million views in two months.

On June 6th, TikToker[5] @i.hate.my_bf.fr posted a meme using the term that reads, "How it feels texting him first like don't you have the dihh," garnering over 966,000 views in three days.
