Before July 31st, 2019, an unknown user made a CEO of Sex meme using a photograph of American actor Jacob Batalon in a grey suit made at the premiere of superhero film Spider-Man: Homecoming (shown below). On July 31st, 2019, Redditor Juanisimo1999 reposted the meme to /r/okbuddyretard subreddit,^[1] where it gained over 200 upvotes in one month, with more reposts made in the subreddit in the following days.^[2][3]

In the following weeks, the photograph, paired with humorous quotes, has been used for ironic memes on Reddit, iFunny and Instagram. For example, an August 11th, 2019, post by Instagram user salad.snake gained over 44,200 likes in two weeks (shown below).^[4]
