Wreck-It Ralph is a family computer animated film about the protagonist, Ralph, rebelling against his role as a villain in the fictional game Fix-It Felix, the film was a commercial success and has gained popularity over the internet as well, the film also has notable cameos from well known video game characters such as Sonic The Hedgehog of the series of the same name and Bowser from the Mario series

History

Disney developed the concept of the movie sometime in the late 1980’s and since had been redeveloped and reconsidered several times, working titles of the film included Joe Jump and Reboot Ralph, the studio added characters in the story as well in places they would make sense to appear in or as cameos without knowing if they would have to legally use the characters, cut characters include Dr. Wily from the Mega Man series

The film was also planned to be released in March 22nd 2013, but since it was ahead of schedule, it was pushed back to November 2nd 2012

Reception

The film received generally positive reviews from critics and currently holds a 7.8 rating on IMDB and won 13 awards, 2 of them from the Annie awards, the film is also ranked the 14th grossing film of 2012, it also had the largest opening for a film by Walt Disney Animation Studios until Frozen was released in 2013
