Ok… our meeting was a flop.

At least we decided that Suiseiseki's cutscenes will be used later in the game.
I wouled like to try again, but Im not sure what time I will be on tommorow. Hopefully I will have a computer up and running capeable of IRC, as we can just hold our general disscussion there.

@ Rocket Propelled Panda: I will send you my current game file on Monday or Tuesday when I get back to my regular computer. It's not much since I still haven't figured out how to program a RPG system yet, but it will help you figure out what I have.

@ Suiseiseki: I seem to have half of these sprites, but good job finding the rest of them!

Im on meetingwords now. We can start the meeting.

edit: It also seems that the computer I am useing is incapeable of running IRC, so I can't really get on…

Try a client
http://www.icechat.net/site/
Clients are fairly set up, they let you access more than 1 network, and they have more features than WebChat. (Usually)

Anyway, the network is irc.freenode.net
Channel is knowyourmeme

@Natsuru: Okay, thanks. I definitely can see that it would be a bit difficult to program an rpg on game maker. I can just see the thousands of events now, to tell the truth I don't even see how it would work anyway since game maker was created for action games, but I will do what I am told so that I can help you in any way I can, and hopefully all will be well.

P.S. It seems everybody has a minimum of one auto-kill move on their movelists, I don't mind if it was said to be okay, but I have only played 3 rpgs with auto-kill moves and 2 had near non-existent accuracy while the other didn't give experience or items from the kill. So just sayin' that from experience they aren't included much.

Yea, the point of the tech demo was to get something that we couled modify into the whole game. And yea, I have seen some success's at makeing rpg's on Game Maker (however none of the creators where willing to share…) so I know it's possible. But if things don't turn out I have my plan B.

@P.S: I feel for game balance sake I will modify most of the attacks to not include Instant Kill's. They can still cause a godly amount of damage, but will have low accuracy and high MP useage.

Okay, I was wondering more about how exp and leveling would be programmed in, but I'm sure there are editable scripts for that, and about the moves, I was feeling that that would happen. Not to be mean to anyone, but it seems everybody wants to have a Mary-Sue running around with their dream-self's face on it, but I guess that is the natural reaction to knowing you are going to be a main cast member. 'Cause everybody wants their shining moment you know. :)

I found an example Action RPG with a leveling system, so we will be fine in that department as long as I can carry the system over to many characters at a time.
I was aware that I wasn't going to make my character a perfect one, thus I attempted to remove attacks that where too powerfull (Tails Doll Summon) and gave my character the obvious mage weakness to physical attacks and long cast times that can be interupted. However, my characters shineing battle moment will be in "Hells Refineing Fire" and in Unison Attacks.

BY THE WAY! DERPY! I have an idea for our unison attack! By useing the Master/Final Spark and the Sonic Rainboom Laser (rainbow dash summon); the Rainbows merge createing a devistateing beam that is reirected back onto the enemy several times before crashing directly into the ground, causeing a large explosion that splits into a double rainbow that heals all alies. (I have no idea what to name it…)

Name it it Double Rainboom Spark. O__O Or Double Rainbeam.

@ Dr.Thundercritic: My original idea was to have a "Now for something completly diffrent" moment before switching to a techno remix of Never Gonna Give You Up with the silloets of our characters doing meme dances. But we arn't at the point of decideing that yet.
@ Death the Kid: Allright!

About the story, I have a few questions: How long have the non-internet originating main characters been stuck in the internet to have lost their perception of the mythical 'irl'?
Can internet beings get corrupted(sick) if they don't protect themselves from viruses?
Do internet beings need things to live, such as anons needing to occasionally go to a chan board, trolls needing to feed off rage, do the main cast need to eat digital versions of irl food to keep from starving?
If not, then do they just get bigger or smaller depending on feeding?
Or is there no feeding at all?

I'm not exactly certain on the terminology Katie used in the script, but it's at least been 200,000 years of confinement in the internet.

We haven't really thought about that, but since we have a Poison system I'm assuming there is.

Similar to ghosts, you don't need food but you often want it for the enjoyment of it. However, it would be safe to say some rituals must be upheld by certain people to maintain living.

Just so I can subscribe to this thread and get me some delicious updates about the game, here's a proposition for the title screen or a poster:

BRILLIANT!! Maybe once we have all the art designs for all the characters you can do a full one? :3

I just lost the game. D:<

Yeah, I think I get that. It's kinda like how SF4 is just kinda creepy looking compared to the old games… Well, I guess this is an opportunity to try and learn some new techniques that'll make this sort of thing easier though, so there's that I guess.

So about the game world, would it be possible for the transference of a persons consciousness into the metaverse glitch and have an unintended effect, like, maybe every forty years or something the person loses their memories of the past forty years and slowly lose their original self, sort of like memento, but instead of five minutes it's forty years or maybe they ended up losing their ability to "hear", or the loss of the ability to feel a certain emotion. Also, since KYM-tan is supposedly an A.I., wouldn't there be other A.I.s around? Is there a way they could be identified, and would this even matter given that the characters are really at this point just A.I. copies of their original selves? And there is a purpose behind the metaverse, given that it was created by someone right? Augh, I've forgotten where I was going with this! Uhh, so, yeah. I'll just end the post here.

I think you were definitely getting somewhere good with this. I like the idea that after time characters lose their memories but I don't think it should be a set time; IMO I think it should be a slow loss that goes at a rate dependent of the characters attachment to irl, ie: I would have lost my memories a shitload faster than say Kalmo who has a gf and seems to be sentimental. However losing abilities is a differing matter, I don't know about loss of sensory feelings, maybe actual emotional feelings could be lost depending on if they were used commonly irl often or not. On the AI subject, I believe that all people anons and users alike, in the metaverse are the souls of the related persons that somehow are in this internet metaverse and not just AIs of the humans((note 1)) but I think that most widely accepted fictional characters such as KYM-tan are AIs, this would mean that we might meet up with anthropomorphs along the way such as Wikipe-tan(whom would be a fucking genius) and definitely AE-tan(apparently evil). AIs would only have emotions and abilities that they were given upon creation, so KYM-tan would have all human emotions and pretty much be as human or more human than most main cast members, this can be supported by the fact that this far in the future, uncanny valley would have been reached already.

(note 1)This was decided already I believe, but at the same time, it contrasts with all the main characters due to their being nothing like the people behind the computers.

Well, the effects I was talking about might come to be naturally over time, or maybe by a flaw in the transfer of their "Self"(like how when saving a game if you shut the game off while it is saving your file will most likely end up corrupted), or both. As a programmer yourself, I'm sure you know how simple it would be to remove the ability to do something from a program would be through messing with the source.

About the A.I. and human relationship, I was sort of talking in a semi figurative way. That the process that put them into the metaverse would be most likely to work like the creation of an AI that sort of copies and destroys the original. Like how cut and paste works by copying the original, and then when the copy is placed the original is removed. Anyways, just because it's a copy doesn't mean it's any less than what the original was. If I remember correctly, the verse is set 2k years in the future, but the advent of the metaverse occurred not to long after right now. People change a lot in just 80 years, 2,000 is a lot of possible change.

On the created AI, the point of AI is that it learns. I think it would be odd to say that the AIs can't gain emotions or abilities that they didn't start with when even current tech level AIs learn things.

@Jostin I have yet to really make a DP kun. So far I've only been using a cheap stand in that was a simple re-texturing of another model. I'll make it a goal to complete him soon.

Also I updated your model with the new shaders.
