Doon is literally America after Trump is elected

Issues: High Wall Maintenance, Very High Debt, Mercenary Gangs, Smugglers, Black Plague, Economic Collapse, Anarchy

Gentlemen. I would like to sum up events as they stand for Oceania, the South-Eastern part of the map.

This war with unitology has only begun, and already many are facing opposition from within their own boarders. Kathian, one of the first countries to expand beyond its seas into new territory, has begun a war to purge those who do not follow their faith.

The same Kathian, whose neighbors, Fittaland and Vilanoa, are no longer going to be able to keep their own countries operating. And whose lands just became open season for all of their neighbors.

I don't think I need to say this. But we may be in a bit of a pickle.

Just about everybody has a pm in, so I'm going to start writing the turn now. No more edits please.

Also, there was an error on the religious map in which Zeist was marked in the wrong location. Refer to this piece of map for the correction.

which reminds me, kathian would like to strike a military and econimical alliance with syraus

fukken accepted

I would have to talk about how you will push your religion into my country and whether Zeist would be an issue, but this deal still sounds solid to me.

ill try my best to keep my religion out of your land, you should do the same so as our people don't collide

well syndic is writing the turn so i can't really do it this turn, but ill doit next turn

Oh dear, a turn just one day after the other one? I have not expected that.

Can I still send in mine?

Yes. You can always send in a pm while I am writing. You simply cannot send edits.

Even though I did not complete my PM, I did write the most important stuff already, what got left out can be writhed later.

You can still send in your turn, it's edits that you can't send in anymore.

Shit I meant to say how long does an age last in this game. I can't change it now.

Before the modern era, about two turns a piece. Once we hit the modern era (around turn ten) we will stay there until players invent their way into the future.

Alright cool. Thanks for explaining that Syndic.

inb4 everyone powerplays and reaches the future turn 12/13

And what qualifies for "inventing their way into the future"? Does that mean we just research advance technologies like lasers and advanced genetic engineering or something?

Most likely that is what he means.

Then I will kill them and take their technology and use it for myself and possibly give it to a few nations I like.
I will go XCOM on them.

What if they were sexy aliens?

CrowTheMagician wrote:

Well if they were still trying to kill me, my plan wouldn't change one bit. I'd probably have to add something akin to a Commissar though to my army so my soldiers aren't…discouraged from fighting.
Either that or at this point I'd have made robots to fight for me, which wouldn't give a shit about what their enemy looked like.

Okay but would you do if the aliens have no interest in meeting your people?

CrowTheMagician wrote:

Then I will ignore them and keep looking until I find one who does, whether they're peaceful or aggressive. Either that or I'll look for some brute primitive creatures to ship back here in order to add them to my army.

What about alien life that would want to mate with your people? Also what would you do if you find life but it was more akin to that of micro, plant and/or animal life?

Describe what you mean by "mate." Do you mean regular mating or like the violent rape/ xenomorph chestburster mating? Whichever one it is will be really important in my decision. As for microbes/plants/animals, I might make some type of zoo for them. Then I'd completely ruin their ecosystem and replace it with farms, factories, habitation centers, and temples. I won't destroy an ecosystem until I catalog all the animals and plants in it, at least when I reach the modern age. Once it's complete, however, everything must go.

KYFPMM wrote:

My starlovians will reach the stars first and meet the aliens !!!

You can be the first to go into outer space, but I'll try my hardest to get out of the solar system. Because I'm pretty confident anything alien related here will just be ruins or something. I need to find a way to do it without it taking centuries to get from Star A to Star B however.

Turn 6

Map

Legend

Txabesco (KYFPMM)

Defense Forces: Arquebusiers, Light Cavalry, Cannons, Hwacha Rocket Launcher, Rocket Galleons

Doctrines: Egalitarianism, Mandatory Service, Free Trade, Secularism, State Beer Monopoly

Culture: Alcohol Aficionados, Fish Fanatics, Starlove (religion)

Issues: War Exhaustion (low)

-The arquebus is invented by a nameless, unthanked alchemist. Gradually these firearms come to replace melee weapons in the army.

-To handle the evolution of warfare, a new military school is established for the training of tactics with firearms.

-Highways projects are funded to pave roads between the major cities.

-The navy is modernized, having abandoned the oar and ram for more weapons and sails. This new fleet is sent south to attack the Suiyektu navies blockading Narthuria. With the help of Narthurian fleets, the enemy is defeated and removed from their blockade.

-The people of Grechenstein, oppressed by the recent edict declaring their faith heretical, have petitioned the Txabesco senate for annexation.

Syraus (Stalemate)

Military: Swordsmen, Heavy Camel Cavalry, Medics, Engineer Corps, Flamethrowers, Barques

Doctrines: Egalitarianism, Inquisition, Spies, Welfare, Mandatory Service, Secularism

Culture: Teachers, Entertainers, Xenophobia, Zeist (religion)

Issues: War Exhaustion (medium), Unitology Mob Violence, Zeist Reactionaries

-The government is declared a secular institution. This move has upset Zeistists who, having supported the war effort and the Unitology purge, fully expected their religious influence to show itself in government. These reactionaries are now protesting anything the government does and, where they hold elected office, they are corrupting the administration with slowdowns and defiance.

-A national anthem is composed. "It's okay," say music professionals.

-The fleet is sent to blockade the northern ports of Sprawl.

-A medical division is incorporated into the army. Also, flamethrowers are had.

-The spy corps is diverted to internal stability, infiltrating Unitologist groups as they form to prevent them from successfully arranging rebellions.

-Armies are pulled back for defensive efforts on the borders. The war effort suffers as a result, and Dione continues to survive its siege.

-An attempt is made to extradite all Unitologists to 'conversion camps' where they will be shown that their ways are in error. Unfortunately, it is simply not possible to uproot a third of the empire's population like that, and the project ultimately goes nowhere.

Orobostan (ProfessorRivers)

Military: Arquebusiers, Camel Riders, Cannons, Galleons

Doctrines: Egalitarianism, Meritocracy, Spies, Welfare, Draft

Culture: Militant Patriotism, Unitology (religion)

Issues: None

-The war is ended and the armies retreat from Sprawl. The Unitology purge is also cancelled and the office of the inquisition disbanded. The conservative faction reacts violently, causing an uproar in congress by barring the liberal legislators from entrance to the capitol building. This deadlock was ended after new elections were held, ousting most of the defiant senators from office. The rebellion quickly ended as the rebels, no longer threatened by their government, disband their armies and return to their homes, pledging loyalty to the senate once more.

-Unitology, already entrenched in Orobostan, has quickly become the majority religion across the land as missionaries are now free to preach as they please.

-With peace upon the nation once more, Orobostan has a free hand to develop its military. Modern weapons are imported and replicated, and the armed forces are reorganized into divisions based around the use of gunpowder.

-Colonial conquests bring more land in the north under Orobostani rule.

Onvast (Roarshack)

Military: Heavy Swordsmen, Light Cavalry, Archers, Galleons

Doctrines: None

Culture: Merchants, Starlove (religion)

Issues: Starlove Rebellion

-The infantry are given heavy armor and oriented more towards defense than skirmishing. The navy is improved with larger vessels relying upon sail power, rather than oars.

-The state declares that Starlove is heresy, and proclaims the resurrection of an obscure ancient faith known as Octonism, the worship of the sea god. Any deviants are to be arrested. The people of Onvast, of whom 99% are adherents to the new faith, naturally rise up in revolt. The rebellion quickly spirals out of hand and the nation is now engulfed in chaos.

Ambrosia (Triangle Mare)

Military: Willhelmian Musketeers, Medics, Reiter Cavalry, Cannons, Star Forts, Line Ships

Doctrines: Mandatory Service, Structured Military, Egalitarianism, Meritocracy, Spies, Religious Tolerance, Compulsory Education, Central Bank

Culture: Seafarers, Militarists, Diplomats, Reformed Christianity (religion), Trade Companies

Issues: War Exhaustion (high), Black Plague

-A colony is established in the new world. Initially hopes are high that the new world will be easily tamed. The natives are friendly and the land is fertile. However, a supply ship arriving a year after the colony's first successful harvest finds the entire village abandoned, with a few corpses left behind, apparently having died of black plague. There are not enough corpses to account for all of the residents, however. It seems that the majority simply vanished. A tree at the center of town is discovered to have the word "NAOTAORC" carved into the side of it. How mysterious.

-Larger ships are constructed, with more cannons and crew. A new battle formation, the broadside line, is made standard tactic for the new warships.

-The pikes are abandoned in Wellhelm's armies, with only bayoneted muskets now being used in their place. The standard arm is now the only arm.

-The guild system is gradually phased out in favor of the company system, removing the emphasis on apprenticeship and making the workplace more impersonal. This proves to be advantageous during the plague, when lifetime apprenticeships are very often cut very short.

-Investigation into the causes of the plague identify two main sources: pests and ninjas. Indeed, it would seem that the reason Ambrosia has been suffering the most harshly among all the nations on the continent is due to the concerted efforts of Japanese covert agents. To handle the former issue, cities are instructed to engage in large scale purges of rodents and vermin that are suspected to carry plague. For the latter, the spy corps is given additional funding to help thwart further ninja incursions.

-Combat medics are added to the armed forces, cutting back on deaths and occasionally allowing a wounded soldier to return to the battlefield after recovery.

-The road system is linked up with Cuba's. Money is also spent on canal systems, pipe networks, and rubbish collection, to help with city hygiene. Infrastructure is also built in Egypt, buying the loyalty of many locals who previously were doubtful of Ambrosia's good will towards them.

-The StatenGeneraalen meets to discuss the issue of the war's toll on the nation as a whole. They encourage the purchasing of war bonds and ask for donations from wealthy merchants and businessmen, but few funds are forthcoming. War taxes are also raised.

-A popular referendum has called for an end to the war, which is exhausting the nation of funds to fight the plague and bankrupting the economy. Loss of support for the war effort has led to lessened manpower as deserters flee from their training camps and draftees mutilate themselves or flee to avoid service.

-Alongside reinforcing armies from Cuba and Orientale, the Japanese are pushed out of the western provinces.

-A series of naval invasions are launched against the Japanese. Landing parties arrive on several beaches, only to find that they are quickly surrounded by Japanese defenders who had been pulled away from the front for the very purpose of coastal defense. They surround the beachheads and soon drive the Ambrosian armies from their soil. On the sea there is much greater success, however, and the entire Japanese fleet has been obliterated.

-A central bank is established, governed by the bureaucracy, with fixed rates of exchange set upon the Ambrosian Denar to ensure its lasting value. Foreign merchants are encouraged to use Ambrosian currency, rather than their own national money.

Suiyektu (You Are Reading This)

Military: Arquebusiers, Engineer Corps, Heavy Cavalry, Cavalry Archers, Fire Hwachas, Archipelago Frigates

Doctrines: Mercantilism, Meritocracy, Spies

Culture: Free Enterprise, Horse Husbandry, Tengrism (religion)

Issues: War Exhaustion (high)

-Two more hordes, the Chagatai and Ilkhanate, are organized and sent on defensive operations in the north. The other hordes are order to retreat, splitting up and establishing guerrilla combat theaters to fight from throughout the countryside.

-Spies are sent among enemy ranks to terrorize their leadership structure with assassinations. This attempt has not seen much success, only managing to kill a few minor officers, but as the saying goes; even a single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat.

-Flamethrowers are placed upon battlements, ready to throw fire and boiling oil upon attackers.

-Gunpowder is invented in some sort of freak accident involving three horses, a bucket, a leather boot, and an experimental immortality potion. Soon thereafter, innovations in the field of warfare are made, including the development of napalm rocket artillery and the arquebus.

-The fleet is wiped out by a Txabesco expedition, sent to save Narthuria from blockade. It would seem that Suiyektu is now at war with the northern nation.

-With the loss of the fleet, ship designers are able to redraw plans for the Suiyektu navy. A series of new Archipelago Frigates sail out of Mandkiri. The new ships are lighter, faster, and more maneuverable than the old designs.

-War exhaustion has risen to a level at which the people have begun to grumble quite loudly about the state of affairs. Should Narthuria propose a peace treaty publicly, the people expect their government to accept it.

Narthuria (Spider-Byte)

Military: Tercio, Crossbowmen, Heavy Cavalry, Cavalry Archers, Engineer Corps, Galleons

Doctrines: Public Investment, Penal Army

Culture: Knights Tharos, Narthos (religion), Warmongerers

Issues: War Exhaustion (high)

-The king is injured in battle and retreats to his home to recover. This recovery gradually turns into a retirement as his situation worsens and his son, Ullius, unofficially takes command. As he wins victory after victory, he has gained the nickname "The Black Prince" due to his darkened armor and morbid tactics.

-The Black Prince ransacks Myushiyin, selling off anything of value to raise funds for his army. He then fortifies the location, setting up wooden spike walls far afield to halt cavalry charges anywhere near the city. Small bands of raiders are sent out to ransack the countryside and hunt down Suiyekharti guerrillas.

-With the advent of gunpowder, the armies are reformed. Mixed order infantry using arquebus and pike, called Tercio, become the mainstay of the army.

-The Knights Tharos elect the Black Prince as their Grand Furion, making him the first king to simultaneously be a member of the knightly order in generations.

-The people are loudly protesting the war, and call for peace. The drain on the economy has left many starving and unable to pay the hefty taxes necessary to support the armies. A peace treaty should be signed soon, should the king wish to avoid a rebellion in his own territory.

Divus (Taryn)

Military: Tercio Infantry, Mortars, Cannons, Barques

Doctrines: Harbor Mirrors

Culture: Crab Cruelty, Stellar Surveyors, Tower of Babel (under construction), Sunnism (religion)

Issues: None

-The king becomes upset when he learns that Divus is not quite as "green" as he would like. He orders the "greening" of the armies. Drills are conducted regularly, and new weapons are implemented. Divus is now much more green than it has ever been before.

-Vilanoa is overtaken by civil war. As the despot seizes the capital the provinces defect, forming their own nations. The Sun Pope makes a visit to several provinces under his holy jurisdiction, and convinces them to join with the Divusian state.

-Communities of engineers living near to the top of the tower have adapted over their lives to the difficult environment so high in the atmosphere, where the air is too thin to breathe for newcomers. They diligently continue work on the edifice, expanding it to new heights each year and innovating better climbing and breathing gear as they work. What can only be described as an early space suit has been created for those who seek to build and climb higher than ever before. Made out of specially cured leather, the suit is airtight, allowing higher pressure air to be trapped inside, so that the user's lungs do not collapse while climbing. Unfortunately, carbon dioxide poisoning is still a problem, and no system has yet been made for pressurizing large volumes of air for transport to the top.

Striate (Owen, The Communist Tree)

Military: Arquebusiers, Crossbowmen, Cannons, Caravels

Doctrines: Mandatory Service, Religious Tolerance, Resource Subsidies, Elite Forces, Vetting

Culture: Militant Patriotism, Unitology (religion)

Issues: None

-The armies are withdrawn from Sprawl to fight the rebels. The inquisition is abolished and the rebellion rapidly dies down. Resisting cells are destroyed by military intervention, and at last the country returns to peace. The former rebel leaders are all pardoned, leading to relatively fast recovery and reconstruction.

-In light of the civil war that Striate has just survived, the general has commanded the creation of religious tolerance laws, guaranteeing freedom of worship to all citizens. Members of "strange faiths" are required to make oaths of loyalty to the state or face expulsion. None fail to do so, and the Unitologists are excited for this new age of cooperation and peace.

-Economic subsidies are doled out to farms and mines to expand raw resource production.

-Gunpowder weapons are implemented in the armies and a mass reform has removed all outdated arms from service. Many of the more conservative commanders are hesitant to adopt the new weapons, but fail to voice their concerns loud enough to prevent the reform.

-General Creed has established the Striate Elite Force army, a special unit with advanced training in the new gunpowder weapons. He has begun a campaign of vanity, convincing the public that this group of special forces is able to perform tactical miracles and that each soldier is worth at least ten from any other nation. These claims have yet to be proven in combat.

-The Bureau of Vetting is established to root out corruption. Many old bureaucrats and high ranking officers are tried and found guilty of conspiracy, sedition, corruption, and other crimes.

-Explorers land in the new world and claim a piece of the coastline in the name of Striate.

Kathian (Twisty)

Military: Zealot Tercio, Cuirassiers, Cannons, Mortars, Flamethrowers, Caravels

Doctrines: Missionary Warriors, Mercantilism, Code of Conduct, Field Promotions, Inquisition, Terrorism

Culture: Perfectionists, Xenophobia, Kruztatlism (religion), Janissaries

Issues: War Exhaustion (medium)

-A military order, the Janissaries, is established to help control conquered peoples with a bit of regional leniency. Janissary divisions are put in charge of these special regions, expected to raise taxes, maintain a garrison, and keep things orderly and running profitably.

-Farms, workshops, mines, and various manufacturies are subsidized to encourage their expansion. This major economic reform project is heavily funded by loot drawn in from the war in Sprawl and the taxes raised by Janissaries in these new territories.

-The military is reorganized around gunpowder weapons. Cuirassiers, lightly armored horsemen with firearms, replace the entire cavalry, and all the infantry's medieval weapons are thrown out and replaced with arquebus. The navy is also reformed, with a focus on lighter ships for greater speed and tactical range.

-The engineer corps is given orders to cause fear and panic in whatever ways they can and to experiment in creating terror in enemy ranks. This new doctrine of terrorism has led to the advent of explosive shot, flame shot, chemical shot, and plague shot for use in mortars to bombard civilians and defenders alike during a siege.

-A policy of deforestation is adopted in the colony, to clear land for development. The colony is expanding a bit faster as a result.

-Vilanoan Korea and the nations to the southeast are invaded. This diversion has somewhat slowed the war effort overseas.

Sprawl (Sergeant Arch Dornan)

Military: Zealot Tercio, Priest Corps, Light Cavalry, Camel Riders, Engineer Corps, Caravels

Doctrines: Egalitarianism, Literacy Program

Culture: Alien Admiration, Unitology (religion), Knights of Unity

Issues: War Exhaustion (high)

-Agents infiltrate Syrausan society to instill rebellion. However, Syraus has turned its attention entirely towards maintaining the peace, succeeding in destroying rebel groups before they can fully form.

-The arquebus is added to the national arsenal, and is implemented into halberdier formations as part of new tercio units.

-Recruitment campaigns send out propaganda imploring the people to defend the marker and their faith against the invader. Although the country is wracked by war, this campaign has succeeded in forestalling any calls for peace.

-Rebel forces in Orobostan and Striate are commanded to declare an oath of fealty to Sprawl. The rebels, unfortunately, have suddenly been granted all of the concessions they demanded. They are mostly disbanded now, and are no longer able to serve Sprawls demands.

-With the retreat of the southern invaders, the armies are sent northwards to repel Zaris.

-There is much complaining about the war, which is taking many lives and causing an economic downturn. Many clerics within the holy conclave are saying that the conflict should come to a close as soon as possible to save Sprawl from unnecessary destruction.

Monarchy of the Roses (Tchefuncte Bonaparte)

Military: Spear Warbands, Light Cavalry, Flamethrowers, Galleys

Doctrines: Egalitarianism

Culture: Tulip Traffickers, Rose Retailers, Pyramids, Mechanarianism (religion), Egalitarianism, Jazz

Issues: None

-The great wall has been completed. Also the great lighthouse.

-Jazz is a musical genre that originates from the frontier plains societies of the colonial regions to the west during the mid exploration era. It emerged in the form of independent traditional and popular musical styles, all linked by the common bonds of Rosen and native musical parentage with a performance orientation. Jazz makes heavy use of improvistion, polyrhythms, syncopation, and the swing note, as well as aspects of Rosen harmony, Zarisian popular music, the brass band tradition, and native musical elements such as blue notes and native styles such as 'ragged rhythm.' Although the foundation of jazz is deeply rooted within the native experience of Rosen frontier expansion, different cultures have contributed their own experience and styles to the art form as well. Intellectuals around the world have since come to hail jazz as "one of Rose's great original art forms."

-As jazz spread around the world, it drew on different national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to many distinctive styles. Irida jazz combined earlier brass band marches, Zarisian quadrilles, and blues with collective polyphonic improvisation. In Cirilla, a hard swinging, bluesy, improvisational style called Striate jazz (a style that emphasized musette waltzes) were prominent styles. Divusian bebop emerged out of urban Ramona, shifting jazz from danceable popular music towards a more challenging "musician's music" which was played at faster tempos and used a more chord based improvisation. Cool jazz was developed in Narthuria, introducing calmer, smoother sounds and long, linear melodic lines. Other styles have emerged in various other places around the globe, such as Unitian and AmbroCuban jazz.

-Since at least the emergence of bebop, forms of jazz that are commercially oriented or influenced by popular music have been criticized by purists. Traditional jazz enthusiasts have dismissed bebop, free jazz, jazz fusion, and much else as styles of debasement and betrayals of the tradition. An alternative viewpoint is that jazz is able to absorb and transform influences from diverse musical styles, and that, by avoiding the creation of 'norms', other newer, avant-garde forms of jazz will be free to emerge. To some frontier natives, jazz has highlighted their contribution to Rosen society and helped bring attention to native history and culture, but for others, the music and term "jazz" are reminders of an oppressive and racist society and restrictions on their artistic visions. Some have argued that there is a distinct "Rose jazz" music genre expressive of racial differences to the natives. Rose jazz musicians appeared in the Midnorthern Rosenland, as well as other areas. An influential style referred to as the Faro School (or Faro Style) was developed by Rosen musicians including Tomas Ramos, Maria Nunes, and Santiago "Big Man" Azevedo. Others from Faro such as Andre Azevedo and Rodrigo Lourenco have since become leading members of big band swing.

-Female jazz performers and composers have contributed throughout jazz history. While women such as Maria Nunes, Rita Perera, Sara Freitas, and Mariana Mendes are famous for their jazz singing, women have achieved much less recognition for their contributions as composers, bandleaders, and instrumental performers. Other notable jazz women include piano player Matilde Correia and jazz songwriter duo Ana and Margarida Rocha. Women began playing instruments in jazz early on in the musical movement, with the piano being one of the earliest instruments used which allowed female artists a degree of social acceptance. Since the advent of jazz, great strides have been made to accepting the national trend of gender equality, and many claim that musical expression has a great deal to do with this change.

-A colony is established in the new world.

Orientale (Starscream)

Military: Arquebusiers, Lightning Cavalry, Cannons, Star Forts, Caravels

Doctrines: None

Culture: Christianity (religion)

Issues: Black Plague, War Exhaustion (low)

-Quarantine zones are established, varying in exclusiveness depending upon the severity of the plague. This does quite a bit to stem the tide of death, but is unfortunately completely undone by the war with Japan. Armies and garrisons, moving from city to city to reinforce various battlegrounds, are spreading plague more rapidly than it had been before.

-Guidelines for corpse disposal are distributed to hospices across the country, with strict rules for the burning of the dead. Deviation from the accepted practice is punishable under the law by severe repercussions.

-The military is reformed from the ground up, disposing of the old weapons and implementing new gunpowder firearms and cannons. The navy is not exempt from this change, and the old galley fleet is scuttled in favor of the new caravels. A new division of cavalry for fast raiding is also established.

-Japan is attacked, although Orientale's armies fare very poorly. The military reform, having only just begun, was not quite complete at the time of the attack, leaving the armies somewhat mixed. Furthermore, a lack of skill and experience with the exotic new weapons has led to abysmal performance in the field. Compared to Japans armies which were fully reformed and skilled in using the new equipment, Orientale was doomed to defeat. Many regiments were also severely affected by plague and have been unable to perform at peak capacity on the battlefield. Fortunately, with the timely arrival of Ambrosian and Cuban reinforcements, the front did not collapse, and the Orientalish armies were able to contribute to the liberation of Rasht.

Cuba (Major Bummer)

Military: Tercio, War Priests, Star Fort, Cannons, Galleys

Doctrines: Penal Slavery, Spies, Inquisition

Culture: Fish Fanatics, Christianity (religion)

Issues: Black Plague, War Exhaustion (medium)

-Holy war is declared upon Japan, a fellow catholic country. The leadership accuses them of witchcraft and causing the black plague, which makes sense, since Japan seems oddly unaffected by the thing. Reinforcing armies are sent to Ambrosia to help fight off the invaders.

-Priests are added to military regiments to keep morale high.

-Siege cannons are added to the armies, replacing the old siege engineer corps.

-Being at war in Ambrosia, the most heavily infected region, has led to plague being propagated even more quickly through Cuba. The armies in particular have suffered greatly, and upon returning home many soldiers go on to infect their families and neighbors.

Zaris (Tyranid Warrior)

Military: Heavy Infantry, War Priests, Crossbowmen, Galleys

Doctrines: Inquisition

Culture: Engineer Exaltation, Nature Negation, Mechanarianism (religion)

Issues: War Exhaustion (medium)

-The armies continue advancing upon Sprawl, but are turned back by the enemy due to their advanced weaponry. Firearms win the day, and Zaris is in retreat.

-The captured regions of Sprawl are being steadily converted to Mechanarianism by the war priests, who threaten the local population into conversion.

Carim (CrowTheMagician)

Military: Arquebusiers, Grenadiers, Lightning Cavalry, Flamethrowers, Cannons, Caravels

Doctrines: Meritocracy, Inquisition, Spies, Free Trade, Welfare, Mandatory Education, Natural Rights, Central Bank

Culture: Gothic, Olympians, Egalitarianism, Occult Studies, Empire of Bliss, Carimite Heathenry (religion), Unitology (religion), Individualism, Valkyrie Order

Issues: None

-The laissez faire economic model is adopted and a national bank is established. This combination makes it easier for the government to handle economic affairs while simultaneously promoting spontaneous, somewhat chaotic growth.

-Higher subsidies are given to workshops and merchants that sponsor domestic production. Grants are also freely handed out to mills, mines, farms, and ranches in an effort to increase output and exports.

-The world's first joint stock company debuts in Carim.

-The bill of rights is amended to include universal health care and a guarantee of social security benefits for all.

-New weapons such as the flamethrower and the short fused bomb make their way into the army. The navy alters its focus from massive ships of the line to smaller, cheaper, more agile craft.

-The armies retreat from Sprawl and the war is ended. The people rejoice!

-Explorers are sent west to claim land in the new world. They establish a settlement, Srose, on the closest island.

-Exploration of the world has uncovered many new trade opportunities, and links are established with the Roses, Txabesco, and Divus. Attempts to crack into the Suiyektu markets are thwarted by their mercantilist policies.

Hessaria (Black Graphic T)

Military: Halberdiers, Heavy Swordsmen, Archers, Engineer Corps, Flamethrowers, Caravels

Doctrines: Mandatory Service, Religious Tolerance, Military Retirement & Citizenship, Warrior Poets

Culture: Dragon Detractors, Seafarers, Unitology (religion)

Issues: None

-King Markham, eager to see the new world for himself, sets forth on a voyage to colonize alongside a plucky band of intrepid explorers. He leaves his son, Prince Vhargus, as his acting regent, and establishes his new court in Markham City, where he governs over the colony and supervises its growth personally.

-Hessaria opens its borders to Unitologist refugees, who come flooding in readily, fleeing war and persecution. Many of these people do not stay, and instead continue their flight to Markham City, where they settle in the crown lands.

-The caravel fleet is overstocked with ballistae and Dragon's Blood and given orders to patrol the waters around the islands, keeping up a rapid exchange of information across the sea, ensuring that the capital stay in the know of all goings on.

-Soldiers are given a basic education in literacy and arithmetic as part of Prince Vhargus's plan to bring the country up to par with its neighbors, in particular Carim. A library to rival Carim's is built on Celephais island, just to show 'em.

Doon (Laud Piestrings)

Military: Arquebusiers, Armored Wagons, Light Cavalry, Cannons, Galleons

Doctrines: Bill of Rights, Meritocracy, Religious Tolerance

Culture: Bear Beholders, Educators, Welfare, Wall Builders, Christianity (religion)

Issues: Mercenary Gangs, Smugglers, Black Plague, Economic Collapse, Anarchy, Peasant Rebellion, Bankruptcy, War Exhaustion (extreme)

-A man named Olaf Theril becomes popular in Sera, preaching to whoever will listen about the past glory of Doon and the true cause of the nation's misfortunes: foreigners. Somehow, through his charismatic defiance of the establishment and promise to restore the nation, Theril has gained a massive following and came to be elected to the nation's highest office. Rallying together his loyal bands of thugs, smugglers, criminals, and droves of unemployed artisans, he has overthrown the republic and declared himself emperor.

-Emperor Olaf, witnessing the destruction that his followers still inflict upon the homeland, decided that it was high time to use this violence to a good purpose. After hastily drafting everyone who could be gathered into the army, he led a massive invasion force across the border into Japan. The promise of loot replaced regular pay, and the soldiers were eager to steal what they could from Japan. Unfortunately, the initial attack was repulsed in a devastating defeat, and the entire army disbanded. The inexperienced mob stood no chance against the experienced, battle hardened Japanese army.

-The Japanese counterattack was swift and vicious. They easily dismantled the defenses at Grisht and swarmed across the access point beyond the wall, causing mass panic and desertion in the other wall garrisons. Soon the entire wall had fallen, and Japanese armies were marching across the countryside, seizing defenses without much opposition.

-A lack of pay has resulted in the disbanding of most of the military. Only a few loyal divisions of guardsmen remain to protect the emperor. The emperor and his personal army retreated from the capital when it became evident that the Japanese would take it, fleeing across the country to Boori.

-The state has gone bankrupt. On the bright side, there is no longer an obligation to pay back any loans previously taken to make up for the deficit. Unfortunately, nobody is willing to give any new loans, and few people are willing to even pay taxes either.

-A major rebellion has spawned in Aether and Ikki. The Japanese have succeeded in mostly putting down the former, but the latter still continues as a provincial governor there has declared the reestablishment of the republic and is organizing local militias into a "grand army."

-What remains of the treasury is spent on modernizing the navy and the army. Massive restructuring is not truly required as Doon does not have any measure of a military left at this point.

Japan (ShiJo)

Military: Gun Samurai, Dragoons, Mortars, Cannons, Caravels

Doctrines: Mandatory Schooling, Meritocracy, Biological Warfare, Religious Tolerance, Immigrant Restrictions, Ninjas

Culture: Swordmakers, Closed Society, Christianity (religion), Egalitarianism

Issues: War Exhaustion (medium)

-Orientale, Cuba, and Doon all declare war. Good luck dealing with that.

-The Doonish invasion has completely collapsed after only a single defeat in the field. Their government is forced to declare bankruptcy to avoid the insurmountable debt it had accumulated, and most of their defensive military disbands as well. One samurai general, a woman named Byakuren Hijiri, saw this as a chance for glory. She disobeyed orders to defend the front lines and took her army to Grisht, where her forces easily overwhelmed defenders and crashed through the great wall. City after city fell to Byakuren, who quickly became a legend for single handedly conquering all of Doon.

-As a result of Byakuren's victories, the people of Japan have started to view women as intelligent and capable, and the women have taken on this reputation with pride. As a result, Japan is much more egalitarian than it had been before, and there is much equality to be seen among people of different demographics.

-Reinforcements are directed backwards to defend the homeland's borders. This proves to be fortuitous planning, as Ambrosia simultaneously launches a large-scale invasion by the sea. The invaders are successfully beaten back. The fleet, unfortunately, fares very poorly against Ambrosia and is almost completely annihilated.

-The attack on Ambrosian territory is turned back by Orientalish and Cuban forces, partly due to the diversion of Japanese forces to defend the homeland. Ambrosian divisions are oddly lacking in these counterattacks, only spearheading a few incursions. As they retreat, the samurai armies burn every medical center they can identify to keep the plague from being resisted in these areas.

-The people of Lutten and Hardenberg proclaim fealty to Japan after the miraculous curing of their people of the black plague.

-Ninjas moving through Ambrosian lands are tasked with assassinating important local and military leaders to spread chaos and fear.

-Plague is used creatively as a weapon. Prisoners of war are infected purposefully and then released on "good will" to their comrades, where they spread disease. Food stores are abandoned during retreats, laced with plague victim blood. Even experiments in plague weaponry, such as coated bullets and bayonets, are attempted to ensure that enemies wounded in battle wind up dead.

-Security around United 731 is strengthened. In fact, only one or two people can be sure that they even know where the unit is based at any one time.

-Some elements of the army, fearing that their supply of cures will be diminished by the charity being demanded upon them from the senate, have begun hoarding medical supplies rather than distribute them to the public. This has resulted in the beginning of an outbreak, which is centered along the Doonish border. Ursa and Kirisame have had increasing numbers of cases, and the lack of medicine has led to fears that a mere quarantine will fail to halt the disease's spread.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

I have a sneaking suspicion that some of you are not properly sending in your edits, so I will clarify now. When you want to make a change to your actions, SEND ALL OF YOUR ACTIONS IN A NEW PM. Do not expect me to read any previous pms that you send and add them all up in my head, because I will not be doing that, and I have said previously that this is the case.

If you notice that 90% of what you wanted to do this turn or in a previous turn is missing, this is probably the reason. I do read everything that you send me, but only if it is in the latest pm you send. Only rarely do I forget a players actions or elect to ignore some part of your pm, so do not think that your missed actions are my fault or for some hidden reason. Most of the time I can't even tell that your actions are missing because there is no indication that more should be there. This system is necessary to keep the turns easy to write in a feasibly short amount of time. I only want to go through one pm per player.

I hope this has helped to make clear what you need to do in sending your actions.

stands on a soap box and starts raving like a mad man
Your all fools for letting Unitology take over your nations! When the Great God comes it'll strike all you down! You are no longer in control of your nations, Sprawl is now, and it can make you do whatever it wants!

But seriously though Sprawl is basically controlling you all now.
