24-Hour Cinderella is a karaoke song that is performed by Goro Majima in the videogame Yakuza 0. The song and its accompanying cinematic have been used as a reanimation meme, as well as a song cover by fans.

Origin

In the videogame Yakuza 0, which was first released in Japan on PS3 and PS4 game consoles on March 12th, 2015,[1] Goro Majima can sing the song "24-hour Cinderella" in the game's karaoke bars (shown below, left). Near the end of the karaoke song, a cutscene (shown below, right) will play of Majima and four other men dressed as idol singers in flashy clothes will perform moves of choreography while wearing roller skates.



Spread

Following the release of the game, "24-Hour Cinderella" quickly became the subject of memes on YouTube. On October 20th, 2017, YouTuber WeeabooJones[2] used the clip in a Video Games Appeal To The Male Fantasy meme, gaining over 6.8 million views in nearly seven years (shown below, left). On August 8th, 2020, YouTuber Ruffvan[3] posted a Source Filmmaker edit that gained over 600,000 views in four years (shown below, right).



Other popular edits include an SFM edit posted by SilentManJoe[4] on August 6th, 2021 that gained over 280,000 views in three years (shown below, left) and a December 9th, 2023 reanimation featuring Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance posted by Snowgubs[5] that gained over 148,000 views in seven months (shown below, right).
