Found Judgment is a hypothetical sequel in the Judgment series of video games, which is itself a spinoff series in the Yakuza: Like a Dragon franchise created by Ryo Ga Gotuku studio. The hypothetical game has never been announced but has been imagined by members of the /r/yakuzagames subreddit who have expressed their wishes it was real and made memes yearning for its existence since late 2022.

Origin

The Judgment series is a spinoff of the Like a Dragon / Yakuza franchise consisting of two games, Judgment and Lost Judgment, released in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The series focuses on former lawyer-turned-detective Takayuki Yagami working to solve cases that ultimately led him to uncover massive conspiracies.

Jokes about a third game in the franchise called "Found Judgment" began circulating on the /r/yakuzagames subreddit in 2022. On September 20th, 2022, Redditor StreetMiserable5270 posted the first known reference to a hypothetical sequel called Found Judgment in a post^[1] that gained over 550 points in two years.

Spread

The hypothetical game began appearing more prominently in memes following an August 10th, 2024, post by Redditor ATKDG^[2] that showed a mock cover for Found Judgment. The post gained over 1,100 points in two and a half months.

On August 11th, Redditor gameovernate^[3] posted a joke quote of Judgment studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama saying, "We found the judgment," gaining over 1,300 points in the same timeframe.

On September 20th, 2024, Redditor zizoplays1^[4] posted a meme about wishing Ryo Ga Gutoko announced Found Judgment, gaining over 2,200 points in one month.

On October 6th, 2024, gameovernate posted another meme about Found Judgment, combining it with "Baka Mitai," gaining over 120 points in less than one month.
