Aang Meets Avatar Kyoshi refers to an exploitable scene in the 2024 adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action which shows main character Aang meeting Avatar Kyoshi for the first time. Due to Kyoshi's imposing stance and Aang's looking like he's being scolded, the moment has become the subject of a photoshop meme among the The Last Airbender fandom communities online.
Origin
On February 22nd, 2024, the Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix live-action series premiered on the streaming service. In one particular scene from the second episode, the main character Aang meets Avatar Kyoshi while in a dreamlike state and she teaches him about the legacy of being the Avatar and its duties to the world. YouTube[1] user @Ovanes posted a clip featuring the scene (shown below), which amassed over 456,000 views and 10,000 likes in a week.
One of the earliest memetic mentions of the scene was posted on February 25th, 2024, on X[2] by user @zukosfate, who combined two still images of Kyoshi talking to Aang and the main character looking up paired with the caption "This is so memeable LMFAO." The post (shown below), amassed over 27,000 likes and 2,100 retweets in four days.

The still image in which Aang meets Kyoshi sparked numerous Photoshop, memes and jokes on the internet. For example, on February 25th, 2024, X[3] user @Maxine_Tigress used the meme to joke about the main character's name, adding the captions "You're gonna have to kill people," and "D'Aang." The post (shown below, left) received roughly 704 likes and 83 retweets in four days. On February 27th, 2024, Netflix posted a tweet[4] about the Avatar Kyoshi scene replacing Aang for the Sad Hamster meme. The post (shown below, right) garnered over 36,000 likes and 4,200 retweets in a day.
