Aw Little Guy!!! Oh He's A Little Bit Fucked Up Actually is a series of redraw memes where an original or popular character is drawn twice side-by-side, once in a neutral pose over the caption "AW little guy !!!" and again in an angry, manic or evil pose over the caption, "OH hes a little bit fucked up actually." The original design template was posted to Tumblr in May 2021 and became increasingly popularized over the course of the year.
Origin
On May 28th, 2022, Tumblr[1] user molabuddy posted, "character design observation i had just now," along with a drawing showing the same simple character twice side-by-side. On the left, the character is shown with big eyes and a neutral expression, captioned, "AW little guy !!!" On the right, he is drawn in a more crazed state, captioned, "OH hes a little bit fucked up actually .." (shown below). The post gained over 43,000 notes in a year.
Spread
The post inspired new variations over the following months as people drew characters over the same captions. On July 9th, 2021, Twitter[2] user @kinniemobile posted a drawing of YouTuber Tubbo's goat avatar in the format, garnering over 11,000 likes and 900 retweets in 11 months (shown below, left). On July 24th, Tumblr[3] user poorlydrawnmcyt posted a drawing of Minecraft YouTuber Grian using the format, gaining over 4,400 notes in 11 months (shown below, right).
The format became increasingly popular in early 2022. Sometimes, the original image is used as an image macro, with images of characters fitting the captions posted overtop of the original art. For example, on January 28th, 2022, Tumblr[4] user mobylace posted the meme as an image macro using Percival de Rolo from Critical Role, gaining over 11,000 notes in five months (shown below, left). On February 3rd, Tumblr[5] user shiliria posted a version of the meme using Super Sonic from Sonic the Hedgehog, gaining over 1,200 notes in four months (shown below, right). On the same day, a version based on Fire Emblem was posted to /r/shitpostemblem,[6] gaining over 1,500 upvotes in the same span of time.
On February 20th, Tumblr[7] user nandorfucks posted an image macro using the format and Guillermo De La Cruz from What We Do In The Shadows, gaining over 7,000 notes in four months (shown below).
On May 28th, Twitter[8] user @gravebrie posted a version of the meme with Yuri Briar from Spy x Family, captioned, "spy x family episode 8 summary," gaining over 3,100 likes in two weeks (shown below). It was reposted to Instagram[9] by spyxfamilyy.official on May 30th, gaining over 4,200 likes in a similar span of time.
