Ben Shapiro Joker Laugh refers to a viral video of conservative commentator Ben Shapiro laughing in a manner similar to the Batman character The Joker.

Origin

On August 12th, 2020, the YouTube account for The Daily Wire published the video "Biden's No Good, Very Bad VP Pick | The Ben Shapiro Show Ep. 1072." The video features Shapiro impersonating the laugh of Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris, comparing it to Jared Leto's Joker. Within two days, the post received more than 140,000 views (shown below, left).

The following day, YouTuber Daddy Poods shared the video "Ben Shapiro Laughing Like Joker HD ft. Kamala Harris," an isolated version of the clip. Within 24 hours, the post received more than 10,000 views (shown below, right).



Precursor

Before the release of the episode, several other videos highlighting Shapiro's laugh were posted to YouTube. For example, on December 3rd, 2019, YouTuber Dave With Normal Cognitive Abilities posted the video "Ben Shapiro Laughing Like JOKER." Within one year, the video received more than 3,000 views (shown below).



Spread

Following the release of the video, people began using the video as a reaction video. For example, on August 13th, Instagram user @worstigaccount shared the video with the caption "Her: I'm really into old-timey villains. Me: (trying to impress her)." The post received more than 33,000 views and 3,000 likes (shown below, left). That day, Instagram user @salad.snake[1] shared the video with the caption "me when salad snake posts something #hilarious and #awesome." The post received more than 216,000 views and 53,000 likes in less than 24 hours (shown below, right).
