Prior to September 19th, 2019, an internet user @uwugoblin uploaded a cropped edit of The Idolmaster manga series, showing the character Sachiko Koshimizu behind the stand written "Bruh zone". On September 19th, 2019, Imgur^[1] user dummythicctrashpanda reposted the image and received more than 41,800 views in four years (shown below).

Spread

Over the following years, the image grew popular as a reaction and redraw reference for fan art. For example, on January 30th, 2021, Reddit^[2] user 5unkEn uploaded an edit of Hololive VTuber Uruha Rushia to the /r/Hololive subreddit. The post received over 4,800 points in three years (shown below).

On August 4th, 2021, Reddit^[3] user GlobelhHex uploaded fan art of an Arknights character to the /r/ariknights subreddit. The post received over 1,800 upvotes in three years (shown below).
