Ceruledge is a Fire/Ghost-type Pokemon that is found within Pokemon Violet and can only be obtained via a specific item evolution. Since the leaks showed off the design leading up to the release date, fans of the games have been making memes and mods involving Ceruledge, as well as fan art.

Origin

Months before the game officially came out, the official Pokemon Twitter showed the Pokemon side-by-side with its version counterpart Armarouge, available in the Scarlet version of the game. This led to a lot of people drawing fan art and appreciating the design of Ceruledge in the following weeks, which is similar to Scizor from early generations, with flaming ghost swords replacing the metallic claws. On September 7th, 2022, the YouTube channel TBSkyen Shorts^[1] did a review of the design, which was viewed over 1.7 million times before the official launch of the game two months later (shown below).

Spread

Leading up to the game's official launch on November 18th, 2022, Twitter artist @NEBULArobo^[2] uploaded fan art depiction of Ceruledge in the middle of a dashing attack as a reply to Nintendo's Twitter account asking users which one of the version exclusives is their favorite, earning over 400 likes in two weeks (shown below).

As more people became aware of the Pokemon, comparisons began to get made with Mega Man, specifically his design from the Battle Network series of games. For example, pixel artist @BetaPX^[3] created a short animation showing what Ceruledge would look like as a Battle Network Net Navi, uploading the finished product on November 16th, 2022, two days before the game's official release (shown below).

After the game's release, fans began to post their pictures with their own Ceruledge. On November 21st, 2022, the Twitter account @Inkonic1^[4] uploaded a short clip from their game in which their Ceruledge was rapidly running circles around their main character, while the caption compared them to Mega Man, asking them to take their Adderall (shown below).
