On July 29th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @ms_random000 posted an edit of a scene from Cobra Kai in which a character breaks up a fight at school, captioning the scene, "'Not on my watch' ahh," garnering over 2.1 million views in a month. This is the earliest known example of the meme.

The TikToker continued to post similar edits of scenes from the series they deemed cringey over the following days. For example, on July 30th, the TikToker^[2] posted an edit captioned "'victory is ours!' ahh scream," set to a version of the "Ghost House Theme" from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, garnering over 2.9 million views in a month.

On August 11th, YouTuber^[4] Fuzion Memes posted a video compiling and editing several cringeworthy scenes from the series, garnering over 41,000 views in around three weeks.

On August 24th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @sadrevive posted a video ranking their top 10 most cringeworthy scenes from the series, garnering over 2.6 million views in six days.
