About
Did You Bring It? or The Pope Gives Jesus Oblivion is an exploitable meme format based on a webcomic in which The Pope is shown handing Jesus a copy of the video game Undertale upon arriving at the gates of heaven. The comic was originally posted to the /r/Undertale subreddit by Redditor u/Kroyal005 in late April 2025 following the death of Pope Francis. It was reposted numerous times over the following weeks, inspiring numerous edits that replace Undertale with another game, record or movie, with the most popular edit being a version where the Pope hands Jesus a copy of Oblivion Remastered.
Origin
On April 24th, 2025, Redditor u/Kroyal005 posted a webcomic to the /r/Undertale[1] subreddit titled "Popetale" in which Pope Francis arrived at the gates of heaven after his death. Jesus asks, "Did you bring it?" and the Pope answers, "I did." The Pope then hands Jesus a copy of Undertale. The post garnered over 52,000 upvotes in a month.

Later that day, Redditor u/zootered posted an edit of the meme to the /r/Oblivion[2] subreddit in which Undertale has been replaced by a copy of Oblivion Remastered, garnering over 15,000 upvotes in the same span of time. This is the earliest known edit of the comic.

Spread
The memes garnered viral spread over the following weeks, inspiring further edits. On April 25th, 2025, X[3] user @BasdRPG reposted the Oblivion version of the meme, garnering over 88,000 likes in a month. On April 26th, Redditor u/Spiddy77 posted an edit to the /r/GreenDay[4] subreddit replacing the game with album American Idiot, garnering over 1,100 upvotes in a month.

On May 8th, Redditor u/UsedToHaveATail posted a version of the meme to the /r/Bloodborne[5] subreddit, replacing the game with Bloodborne, that garnered over 9,700 upvotes in two weeks. On May 13th, Redditor u/Whole-Bedroom-9079 posted a version to the /r/JetSetRadio[6] subreddit that gained over 1,500 upvotes in a week.
On May 20th, X[7] user @ManMilk2 reposted the original version of the meme, garnering over 46,000 likes in a day.
