Disney Knees is a slang term referring to a specific way that Disney actors and former Disney actors, particularly those with music careers, stand while performing in an attempt to look edgier. Disney knees are often defined as inward-pointing knees bent towards one another in the middle. Online, people began pointing out Disney knees as early as 2021, with pop artist and actress Demi Lovato often being the main example of the phenomenon.

Origin

Before the term "Disney knees" was coined, TikToker[1] @xaviermartinnn_ was one of the earliest known people to point out Demi Lovato's specific inward-pointing knees while performing. On May 18th, 2020, the TikToker posted a video reacting to a clip of Demi Lovato performing "This Is Me" from Camp Rock in which she stands with her knees pointing toward one another. The TikToker then does the pose himself. The video gained over 119,000 likes in five years.

On May 14th, 2021, X[2] user @Aasaunte posted in response to an unknown, now-deleted video, "No cause y’all see the way she doing the Disney knees, she understood the assignment," garnering around 190 likes in four years. This is the earliest known use of the term "Disney knees."
