Dog In A Suit refers to an image macro featuring a small puppy fixing the tie on his black and white suit. The hands and suit in the image belong to the baby from the animated movie The Boss Baby. The meme is sometimes used to depict how it feels to act posher and more sophisticated than one truly is. The meme is also sometimes used to depict how it feels to enter the workforce as a young person. Memes featuring a dog Photoshopped to wear a suit began to appear in Latin American meme circles in May 2023 and in Indian meme circles in June 2023.

Origin

On March 31st, 2017, the Dreamworks animated movie The Boss Baby was released. A promotional photo for the film showed the protagonist adjusting the tie on his suit (seen below).^[1]

The earliest known post using an image that combined the face of a puppy with the hands and suit of the Boss Baby was posted to Twitter^[2] on May 7th, 2023, gathering over 3,000 likes in two months (seen below).

The dog made appearances as an image macro on Twitter in subsequent months. On May 9th, 2023, Twitter^[3] user @toiansiosa posted the image with a caption that translates to, "I was soaked with water from the hose until I remembered that my dermatologist always recommends baths with salt water for my dermatitis 💋💋 the only beneficiary in the whole country 💋💋." The post gathered over 600 likes in two months (seen below, left). On May 17th, 2023, Twitter^[4] user @ElKevoOfficial posted the image with a tweet that translates to, "It is a pleasure to inform you that they invited me to you know where," gathering over 1,000 likes in a month (seen below, right).

The meme continued to appear in various Twitter and Instagram posts in May 2023.^[5][6][7] in June 2023, the image macro began to appear on Indian meme pages. A June 7th post by Instagram^[8] page @darklord_2516 was reposted by @tube.indian, where it gathered over 37,000 likes two weeks (seen below, left). The caption on the meme translates to, "Aunty my salary is low right now, but I learn a lot." On June 15th, Twitter^[9] user @Harsh_humour posted a tweet using the meme, gathering over 1,000 likes in a week (seen below, right).
