About
Extra-Long Middle Fingers or Long Middle Fingers refers to a viral internet trend across multiple platforms where users who have exceptionally long middle fingers exploit them for attention. The trend originated on Twitter starting in May 2020 but grew momentum going into 2021 across Instagram and TikTok. Images of such extra-long middle fingers are also used as exploitables in image macro memes.
Origin
On May 11th, 2020, professional Fortnite player and member of the FaZe Clan, FaZe Sway, tweeted a photo[1] to his Twitter account, @FaZeSway, of himself flipping off his computer monitor that is running Fortnite. He captioned the image, "This game some ass," and the tweet (shown below) received roughly 8,000 likes over the course of one year.
Spread
The image of FaZe Sway's finger became an exploitable across Twitter, getting remixed into flipping off other things. Twitter user, @WormsCrazyGolf, tweeted the first remix[2] of the image on August 24th, 2020, Photoshopping Sway's finger in front of the game Team Fortress 2. The tweet (shown below) received roughly 8,000 likes over the course of one year.
