About
Gojo's Hand Seal or Gojo's Hand Seal refers to a hand sign Jujutsu Kaisen character Satoru Gojo makes to use his Domain Expansion ability Infinite Void. The sign has been used to reference the character and a celebration pose and attracted public attention after it was used by K-pop idols, athletes and other celebrities in late 2023 and 2024.
Origin
On June 18th, 2018, chapter 15 "Domain" of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series was published.[1] In the chapter, the character Satoru Gojo uses his Domain Expansion technique Infinite Void to gain the upper hand over an opponent. To open the Domain, Gojo raises his right hand and forms a peculiar hand sign by hooking his middle finger behind the index finger and bending his ring finger and pinky while pressing them against his thumb (manga panel shown below).
The scene appears in episode 7 of the anime adaptation of the manga (shown below), which premiered on November 14th, 2020.[2]
In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, hand seals made by various characters match mudras, which are symbolic or ritual gestures and poses in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Gojo's hand seal matches the mudra of Marici, a Buddhist goddess who is the personification of light.[3][4]

Starting in late 2023, photographs and videos of various famous individuals making the hand sign to reference the manga and using it as a celebration symbol have been shared online.
On December 15th, 2023, photographs and videos of the K-pop idol Jungkook making the seal in behind the scenes footage went viral online. For example, a post by X[5] user @vantaeprod received over 5,800 reposts and 25,000 likes in eight months (shown below).
On June 8th, 2024, Barcelona Atlètic footballer Marc Guiu made the sign during a march against UD Ibiza. On June 12th, X[6] user @Go_Jover posted a photograph of the player making the sign, with the post garnering over 2,200 reposts and 26,000 likes in roughly two months (shown below).
In August 2024, photographs and videos of athletes participating in the 2024 Summer Paris Olympics making the sign went viral online[7][8] (examples shown below).
