About

Hey, I'm Actually Going By They-Man These Days is an exploitable image macro that features He-Man and Skeletor from Masters of the Universe standing in front of the trans flag, and the former stating that he's going by "They-Man" these days, with Skeletor saying "oh cool thanks for letting me know." The meme replaces He-Man and Skeletor with different characters from TV, movies, games and more, typically those with "he," "she," "man" or "woman" located in their names.

Origin

The earliest known post of the original image was on February 6th, 2018, by Twitter user LOVESTRUCKBEAR.[1] The image features He-Man standing in front of the trans flag and stating "Hey I'm actually going by They-Man these days" with Skeletor in the lower right corner of the image replying "oh cool thanks for letting me know". The image (shown below, left) received over 45,100 likes and over 10,400 retweets. The image was later printed onto paper, and a photograph of the print (shown below, right) was posted to Reddit on March 30th, 2019, where it received over 56,000 upvotes.[2]

this is one of those memes where I find the original funny simply from the absurdity of the pretense and the way it's written, but the main references it uses could be basically anything and it would still be the same essential joke

∴ all of these edits are the same joke
