Hits You With a Pipe or Sorrgy Accident refers to a series of video edit memes based on a viral Twitter / X post depicting a character repeatedly hitting someone with a metal pipe and apologizing throughout despite continuing to hit them with the pipe. The post was made in February 2024 and inspired videos on YouTube that voice over the post as a variety of characters over the following months.

Origin

On February 18th, 2024, X^[1] user @vonasterrors made a post that, through text, imagines a scenario in which someone hits the reader with a pipe and apologizes several times throughout despite continuing to hit them with the pipe (shown below). The post gained over 14,000 likes in two months.

On February 22nd, YouTuber^[2] LumiLace posted a video voicing over the meme, garnering over 138,000 views in two months (shown below). This is the earliest known voiceover of the meme.

Spread

The trend continued over the following months, largely taking place on YouTube with some examples being uploaded to TikTok. For example, on February 29th, 2024, TikToker^[3] @celadonva posted a voice-over that gained over 2 million views in two months (shown below).

On March 10th, YouTuber^[4] sharksona posted a version of the meme in which Hatsune Miku beats the viewer with a pipe, garnering over 320,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On March 19th, YouTuber^[5] Lei4! posted a version of the meme where Cream from Sonic the Hedgehog beats you with the pipe, garnering over 150,000 views in a month (shown below, right).

On April 13th, 2024, YouTuber^[6] Frosty uploaded a version of the meme in which the Heavy from Team Fortress 2 beats you with a pipe, garnering over 75,000 views in around two weeks (shown below).
