I Have Something For You, But Promise Not to Get Mad, Okay? is an exploitable meme format in which an anthropomorphic Fulttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic nervously gifts a bag of shampoo, soap and deodorant to a neckbeard. The original meme was popularized in July 2018 and became the subject of photoshops and redraws over the following years, often replacing the neckbeard with another character.

Origin

On July 13th, 2018, X^[1] user @ahokideltaPchan shared a Spanish meme with a watermark for the private Facebook page mlp.facebismagic in which a man asks My Little Pony character Fluttershy what's wrong and she responds, "I have something for you, but don't get mad," revealing that she is holding a bag filled with hygiene products behind her back, garnering around 40 likes in six years. On July 18th, the English version of the meme was posted to /r/justneckbeardthings,^[2] garnering over 11,000 upvotes in the same span of time (shown below, left and right).

Spread

The meme gained viral spread over the following years as an exploitable and a redraw template. On July 27th, 2018, X^[3] user @fondlyRegarded posted the meme along with a series of photos of herself cosplaying as the meme, garnering over 3,100 likes in six years (shown below).

On October 27th, 2021, X^[4] user @dailyfyodoor posted a version of the meme referencing the anime Bungo Stray Dogs, garnering over 1,800 likes in three years (shown below, left). On October 30th, X^[5] user @homuchisas posted a version of the meme that gained over 1,700 likes in the same span of time (shown below, right).

On September 4th, 2023, X^[6] user @peachixu posted a version of the meme referencing One Piece that garnered over 43,000 likes in five months (shown below). On December 6th, X^[7] user @nanakemi posted a version that gained over 13,000 likes in two months.
