About

I Was Mostly Talking About Girls. Hot is an exploitable voice line taken from an educational film strip featuring characters from Scooby Doo. The scene has spawned a number of animations featuring the voice line.

Origin

The film strip, titled The Scooby-Doo Gang In: Skin Deep, was released in 1980 by Hanna-Barbera Educational Division.[1] In the film strip, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby talk about Shaggy's acne problem, and ways to help prevent it. Velma warns about using oily cosmetics as they can worsen acne symptoms. Shaggy replies "Gee, I wonder how I'll look without my cosmetics.", to which Velma replies back "I was mostly talking about girls. Hot, humid weather also intensifies acne.". The video (shown below) was originally uploaded to YouTube by Uncommon Ephemera, but was then reuploaded to Archive.org by the same user after copyright attacks.

YouTube user SpaceHunterM⚧ posted a clip of the scene on February 2nd, 2021, in which Velma's voice line is clipped to "I was mostly talking about girls. Hot…". The clip (shown below) received over 1.1 million views in one and a half years.

Spread

On July 9th, 2022, YouTube user PEAR哥 posted an animation which shows Velma using the voice line out of context as if she were in the middle of a Scooby Doo episode, then suddenly raising up her arms and disappearing. The video (shown below) received over 3.4 million views in one month.

On August 2nd, 2022, YouTube user AsepriteRico posted a video which features characters from Deltarune dressed as the Scooby Doo cast, and with Noelle dressed up as Velma.
