I Will Now Buy Your Game is an exploitable comic in which the author criticizes the contrasting depictions of male and female characters found in video games.

Origin

On July 6th, 2017, Twitter user glitchedpuppet[1] tweeted a short comic about the extreme sexual dimorphism presented in video games, juxtaposing a male anthropomorphic rodent creature with a female variation (shown below). Within four days, the tweet gained more than 29,800 likes and 21,400 retweets.

On July 8th, Twitter user @ghostsampler[7] posted a Loss parody of the comic, gathering upwards of 6,700 likes and 3,300 retweets within 48 hours (shown below).


Loss edits version of the i Will NOw Buy Your Game meme

On July 9th, Tumblr user dukeofleaves posted a Buenos Dias, Mandi version of the comic (shown below, left).[2] That day, Redditor ianelinon submitted a gallery of photoshopped examples to /r/TumblrInAction.[3] Meanwhile, Redditor CamTroid submitted an MS Paint parody of the comic titled "Proper animal genders" to /r/CoaxedIntoASnafu[6] (shown below, right).

glitchedpuppet raises a good point, although not a new one. What they talk about is a thing called "sexual dimorphism".

And games are slowly ditching this concept, as you can see in Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect and others (WoW to a certain degree, although they have "clothing" dimorphism, if you know what I mean…).

…but this is not exactly the best approach to the situation. "I will now buy your game"..? You care so much about such a small detail that you discredit THE WHOLE GAME for it..? Bitch, male characters of ANY species are usually less attractive than female ones in media, dimorphism or not, but I see no men complaining about bad portrayal of men, nor do I see games avoiding the trope having any more sales than others, because most people do not care that much, and justifiably so.

Buy the game based on whether you like the gameplay or not. Stop trying to make videogames, a way to distract yourself from reality, about real-life discourse. You will not make game developers fully ditch this trope by threatening to not buy their game, since all of them know there are 5 people willing to buy the game for every 1 person not buying it because of the trope.

Also, glitchedpuppet is being an absolute ass towards anyone daring to disagree on Twitter. That will not help, either.

I wouldn't have a problem with this comic if the proposed solution was More Monster boys, but no of course it's gotta be Ban the monster girls.

glitched puppet also seems to be one serious douche bag.

Why am not surprised someone with a "Ban the monster girls" message has this sort of attitude. Respect my opinion while I disregard and demean yours.
