Part of a series on Invincible. [View Related Entries]

About

Immortal Is a Fraud or Fraudmortal refers to a series of memes that paint the superhero character the Immortal from the Invincible animated series and comics as a "fraud," a character who is painted to be much tougher and stronger than he actually is. In memes, Immortal is slandered in various ways and powerscaled against various opponents, with his multiple losses highlighted.

Origin

In the animated superhero series Invincible, the Immortal is a superhero gifted with immortality who has lived for over 3,000 years. While the Immortal is considered to be the strongest human superhero, over the course of the series, he has lost multiple fights against Omni-Man and other Viltrumites, also being occasionally overpowered by other characters such as the Mauler Twins.[1]

The earliest memes about the Immortal not being as strong as he is painted to be predate season two of the series, when the character was yet to lose fights to anyone besides Omni-Man. On October 22nd, 2023, Redditor Mindless-Base8597 posted one of the earliest memes about the Immortal being weak, a post that gained over 9,200 upvotes in the /r/Invincible[2] subreddit in two years (shown below).

Lomni man! you bastard! How many times do I have to, teach you this lesson, Old man? C

Spread

More memes about Immortal no longer being the strongest superhero on Earth were posted in 2024 following the release of season two of the series.

For example, on December 9th, 2024, TikTok[3] user @sipser shared a meme about the Immortal getting constantly beaten that received over 55,400 likes in four months (shown below).

The meme achieved widespread popularity within the Invincible fandom following the premiere of episode three, titled "You Want a Real Costume, Right?" of season three of the show on February 6th, 2025. In the episode, minor antagonists the Mauler Twins manage to incapacitate the Immortal and other Guardians of the Globe, who would normally be expected to deal with the duo easily.

On February 9th, 2025, TikTok[4] user @literailyryangosling posted a Druski Dancing meme about Immortal "being useless" that garnered over 83,400 likes in two months (shown below).

The notion of Immortal being a fraud inspired multiple memes in February and March 2025, primarily on Reddit, TikTok and X.

For example, on March 6th, 2025, following the premiere of episode six "What Have I Done?" of season three of Invincible, X[5] user @invincibleFan_ shared a clip of the Immortal losing a fight to an alternate version of Invincible, commenting, "Immortal is actually washed holy fuck". The post (shown below) received over 440 reposts and 13,000 likes in three weeks.

The Sea-Dumpling
The Sea-Dumpling

I stand by saying that he's suffering from the Worf Effect. He used to be the strongest in the world, but now the writers are using him as a benchmark to show how strong other characters are, that coupled with his ability to heal from injuries as severe as decapitation, means he's getting completely jobbered in all of the earth villain and viltrumite battles from Omniman onward. Doesn't help that he acts like an incompetent meathead at every opportunity after season 1, acts like a cowardly complacent bitch around Invincible, and decides to quit hero work and hide in a cabin with the 18 year old coworker he's banging (him already being several thousand years old, mind you). Dude's not winning brownie-points with anybody
