Joker Open Verse Challenge refers to a TikTok Duets trend created by TikToker @thatsdax, where creators are encouraged to make a rap song based on a beat made by him. The trend was popularized in early December 2022 after a series of sincere duets went viral for being cringe, inspiring parody-style copycats.
Origin
On November 29th, 2022, TikToker[1] @thatsdax posted a video dressed as the Joker. He recites the lines, "You're insane, you're in pain, I can tell by what you're sayin' but-" before gesturing a bottle of hot sauce meant to be a makeshift mic towards the viewer. The video was made to inspire other creators to duet him, and it gathered over 6 million plays and 300,000 likes in nearly two weeks (seen below).

On November 29th, 2022 several TikTokers duetted @thatsdax in an attempt to complete his "Joker Open Verse Challenge." TikToker[2] @apaintedrose posted a video duetting the creator, gathering over 400,000 plays and 35,000 likes in nearly two weeks (seen below, left). Also on November 29th, TikToker[3] @apollyonsteel posted a duet to @ThatsDax, gathering over 1 million plays and over 100,000 likes in nearly two weeks as well (seen below, right).

On December 5th, 2022, TikToker[4] @simply_jacob__ posted a video duetting @thatsdax, gathering over 1 million plays and 95,000 likes in a week (seen below, left). On December 9th, 2022, TikToker[5] @nottclay posted a video parodying the duets, gathering over 2.9 million plays and 400,000 likes in nearly three days (seen below, right).
