About
Kenjaku's Brain Reveal, also known by the phrase How'd You Know?, refers to a Jujutsu Kaisen manga panel in which the character and curse user Kenjaku, at that time in possession of character Suturu Geto's body, reveals himself to Satoru Gojo by opening his head and showing him his brain. The panel, in which Kenjaku comments on Gojo's insightfulness by exclaiming, "How'd You Know?" has been a prominent subject of parodies and memes in the Jujutsu Kaisen community.
Origin
On January 3rd, 2020, Chapter 90 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series was published.[1] In the chapter, curse user Kenjaku, whose innate technique allows him to transplant his brain into other people to gain control over them, reveals that he is currently in possession of Suguru Geto's body to Satoru Gojo. As Gojo had suspected that something was off, Kenjaku comments, "How'd you know?" while removing the top of Suguru's head to reveal the brain (manga panel shown below).
- My Six Eyes tell me you're Suguru Geto. But my soul knows otherwise! Hurry up and answer!! Who the hell are you?!
- Yeesh! How'd you know?
The scene was adapted in episode 33 "The Shibuya Incident – Gate Open" of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series, which premiered[2] on September 21st, 2023 (shown below).
Spread
On April 1st, 2021, an unknown Redditor posted the earliest found edit meme based on the manga panel, replacing Kenjaku's brain with the JJK character Kiyotaka Ijichi. The post (shown below) received over 520 upvotes in the /r/JuJutsuKaisen[3] subreddit in three years.
Multiple humorous edits of the scene were shared on Reddit, Instagram and other sites in the following years. For example, on November 7th, 2023, artist ibumuc posted a When the Imposter Is Sus meme based on the panel that received over 6,300 views and 30 favorites on DeviantArt[4] in one year (shown below).
Prior to February 1st, 2024, an unknown user posted a poorly drawn version of the panel, with the dialogue altered to "br u hhhhhhhhhhh howd u knowwwwww." The drawing (shown below) received viral spread[5][6] in the Jujutsu Kaisen community in 2024 and has been used as a reaction.
